*** AMD ThreadRipper ***

I don't think Firestrike can use 32 threads.

Peaks at around 24 threads - 1920x scores about 25k stock, so no improvement for 1950x. Timespy isn't any better, which isn't a surprise seeing as they carried over the same physics engine.

Haha. If you say so chief. Compare it against a cpu that costs the same.

Costs the same but TR outcompetes in well coded MT apps.

Threadripper is not a gaming cpu. No where near

The "no where near" suffix is a bit of a stretch. Threadripper is perfectly fine to game on. But you're right, it's not a "gaming cpu" (or more importantly nor has it ever been marketed/sold as such).

You do seem to like trashing Threadripper/Ryzen theads James - worried are we?

He says its not a gaming CPU while running a 7900X, as if that is, its no better at gaming than the 1950X.

What happened was because its an Intel he automatically assumed its faster without even knowing the facts and just blurting such nonsense out, having realised the stupidity of what he said he now thinks if he keeps that faith it will become true.

It begs the question, doesn't it? he is obsessed with gaming performance, why did he buy a 7900X?

Lokken86 you are very badly informed. it nor the 1950X are the best gaming CPU's, they are both very capable but none are the best option for games. yours isn't even the best option for its intended use. its sort of in limbo... not particularity good in any area, quite bad in some, and a bit pricey.

You guys make me smile. All any of you have done recently is 'trash' any thread about the intel cpus. And now you try and say the 1950x is as good at gaming as the 7900?? Maybe in a few years if games ever take advantage of that many cores. The ipc/frequency perf just isn't there guys. Face it. Anyway I'll leave you to your circle jerk. Bon appetite!

Oh guys you crack me up. You honestly actually believe what you say. You think your 1950 could compete with a 7900 at 4.8/4.9/5.0 in games using say 6-10 cores? Really? Just. Wow

Clearly your quite unstable and can't even manage to restrain yourself from an internet argument to make yourself feel better just moments after saying you were leaving.. You should probably leave and get some air to cool down a little.

S'pose you could compare that to a 7900x @5.0Ghz

Surely I'm getting mixed up with someone else here. All I said was Firestrike probably isn't using all the cores. Someone then confirmed for me that this is correct.

No game in existence uses 6 to 10 SMT cores and even if they did.... yes i do, there is plenty of evidence out there to prove it, evidence even you must be finding it increasingly difficult to ignore....

:D

My main thing I wanted out of Threadripper was to beat my OC'd 4790K in multithreaded tests. Overclocked, my 1950X @ 4Ghz actually beats my 4790K in single threaded applications by 10% as well. I know it shouldn't, but it is. I have both machines up at the same time.

I'm pretty damn happy. It's fast as hell. I just have to wait for full-cover AIO Water Coolers to start to appear and I'll take this baby to 4.1Ghz. I've had it there, just gets a weeee bit too hot using the X62.

Was just combing the web for hot deals on some type of Workstation TR4 board, and seen the 1950X at less than £900 :o

Still not found the ideal board, but the Gigabyte Gaming 7 X399 with 5 PCI-E slots looks like the best I am going to get until later in the year. :(
