AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

Yes, CPUs can be sold as "second" hand, perhaps one of the safest actions when purchasing/selling anything "second" hand.

Guess I might have to do that then! Also, you have any idea if there are any sales coming up for a 2700x? I want to get one pretty cheap, otherwise I may as well just get the 2600x for now and then upgrade to the 3600x next year sometime

I don't even know what a 3600X that you are referring to actually is, is it a 6-core, 8-core or 12-core Ryzen?
2700X, you can get the clean 2700 and just overclock it with the same after-effects.

Maybe boxing day? Could wait and see what's available then.

The 3600x is essentially the replacement for the current 2600x.

its a Ryzen 5 rumoured to have 8c/16t and 4.2 (4.8 boosted) ghz speed. I feel like anything more than that is not entirely necessary for me now, and I feel it would be at a reasonable price point too

According to AdoredTV (take with a serving of salt), the 3600 will be 8c/16t, 65w and $180 with boost clock of 4.4Ghz)base 3.6. Seems like will find out soon how accurate their source was.

Ah, the ol' secret sauce

I think as much as you doubt leaks, it is in AMD's best interest to leak some information as it may dissuade people from upgrading before they see if the leaks are fact or fiction. It's is hard not to believe some of them due to the scope that AMD have with a 7nm process lead, and fact that 8c/16 CPU's are as low as £159. There is nothing stopping them keeping a SKU or two at that price point with 7nm and boosted clocks, it doesn't take a genius to figure that much out.

All leaks should be taken with a small dehydrated ocean's worth of salt, but other than some of the prices, there is nothing in the CPU leak that is truly outrageous, and even then Jim was able to put down a logical and rational argument to support the specs and prices, and counter the arguments thrown against him.

We'll see what turns up, but I'll be quite surprised if the actual CPUs deviate too much from Jim's leak; throw a couple of bucks on here and there, 100MHz variation in some clock speeds, cap the 3850X at 5GHz single-core boost, that sort of thing.

Nothing about the AdoredTV specs which is far fetched IMO. All makes sense, technologically speaking, and from a strategic point of view. AMD know what they have to do if they want to keep winning more of that mainstream consumer market share over Intel, and it seems they are going all out which is great to see. That won't stop Intel releasing a CPU which has 5% more performance for twice the price though, and the most disturbing thing of all is that people will still buy it, exclaiming it to be the 'best'. :D

The prospect of building a full team red pc next year is enticing :D

Very very interested to see their CES talk :)

Ryzen just came back in 2017, so really its only been about a year and a half, and they've already made great leaps at intel. Given the leaks of the new processors, all they need to worry about is having a high enough clock speed (which given the leaks they will be) to demolish intel, because in terms of cores/threads, they're already way ahead!

I think 2019 will definitely be a HUGE year for AMD, with 2020 only making them even bigger, in a few years time they're going to be very even, especially when AMD start taking chunks out of the server market where more cores is important

I've had to shelve a ITX hardline project because of money, but I must say I'm champing at the bit to revive it around Q3 next year when Navi lands (I reckon) and go fully AMD for it. Replace the other half's 1090T/950 Strix system too.

Am4 is great I wish I could afford one, most likely get am5 with ddr5 as my boring intel is doing great.

Would be really interesting to see the cheapest first generation Ryzen b350 board cope with the very last am4 Ryzen chips to see how well amd have done with saying with am4 chipset and their promise of comparability.

Indeed I'm wanting to build a micro ITX build and going for the cooler lower power consuming parts of AMD CPU and Navi GPU sounds perfect for it :)
