Or get a Ryzen 5 2600 for £120,a B450 Tomahawk for £90,and some 3200MHZ RAM for £100 - that is £310. Last year when everything was more expensive,my Ryzen 5 2600,high end B450 mini-ITX motherboard and 16GB of Samsung B-die RAM,was around £410 to £420 and I upgraded from a Xeon E3 1230 V2/Core i7 3770.

We won't have to, but the prices I posted yesterday were from an Italian retailer, to demonstrate that the prices shown by some click bait website were just that, click bait.

Distributors will have loads of stock, and as I mentioned the allocation of parts seems to be un-problematic presently. I am pretty confident that every major UK retailer including OCUk will have stock, and based on that will price them appropriately, due to the value add form securing a motherboard, RAM and possibly cooler sale at the same time, or in some cases entire systems.

I don't think you'll have any issue buying an older generation board, and putting a 3700X - 3900X on them, much to the annoyance of some people who seem to be trying to convince people otherwise. I think the main factor for older boards is ensuring that they are given regular BIOS updates if changes are made along the way.

Yeah im quite fortunate that i have the Zen 1700 i can plop in and use to BIOS update on a board that does not have flashback, tempted to try the 3900x on my CH6 as im only going to be using my G.Skill Trident Z C16 3600mhz Ram, it may work well together nicely, but depending on performance via OC'ing or or PBO etc may mean i need to move to a new motherboard....

Getting closer to official review day i guess should know more soon.

I've got a couple of builds/upgrades lined up for friends with this in mind - as gut feeling is the same - but they can afford to wait for reviews for assurances in chip choice. But in both cases the 3700X would suffice but suspect the will be beguiled by 3900X stats...

I wonder if someone buys a x470 motherboard would zen 3 work on it? With x570 board seemingly going for stupid money is going x470 the smart choice? You would want a upgrade path, but don't know if x470 would work with future AMD cpu's?

It’s not clear yet, but zen3 could well be a new socket. AMD said AM4 will last to 2020. They haven’t said if this means the end of AM4 in 2020.

It’s not clear yet, but zen3 could well be a new socket. AMD said AM4 will last to 2020. They haven’t said if this means the end of AM4 in 2020.

Vermeer aka Zen 3 is AM4. It would be a suicide from AMD if they require from us to ditch the hyper-expensive X570 boards in just 12 months.

This is the main excuse by AMD for not offering more 12C SKUs. But I guess they cannot tell us what we need.
I need a 12C because I know that threads are consumed by running applications very easily.

wanting to see someone show horn in dual 240 rads in the thing . Case does look good but for 2080/2080ti or vega 7- think to much heat is produced by the GPU for it to handle

I used to run a 240mm Rad in the front of mine until my wife and I switched cases. I found CPU temps to be fine (8700k @ 4.9Ghz) but my 1080TI FE got warmer than I would like even with the blower cooler. The case has no exhausts barring the PSU so hot spots can appear if your front fans don't move enough air (Corsair SP120's in mine).

My wife is now running a R5 2600 @ 3.8ghz all core (stock volts) and a Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 (undervolted and overclocked). With the PSU exhausting and clean air flow from the dual 120mm fans (Corsair AF120's) in the front, the temps aren't too bad.
