AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

4K/60. Was tempted by a 3900X but if the uplift isn’t worth it, I’m not sure there’s much point.

Don’t know why but I expected a bit more of a boost with the improved IPC and clocks.
I'm 4K/60 too 5960X 4.5 1080ti SLI so in the same ball park with performance but I'm waiting for next year tbh. A [email protected]/5960X @4.5 is plenty for 4K in almost every game
but I'd jump at the chance of crazy 2080Ti SLI today's games. Image quality settings all ultra always bring a smile to my face!
That would be well ahead of the curve at 4K in today's and tomorrow's games then maybe go 3900X
at Xmas or Zen 3 next year when platform is more mature.

but Nvidia and Intel don't tend to launch new products in this haphazard way.
No, Nvidia didn't sell £1000+ graphics cards with faulty RAM and advertised a feature that performed abysmally in the 2 instances it was implemented. Nothing "haphazard" about RTX at all.

You're not keen on Ryzen, we get it, but do try to kepe your bias and melodrama to a minimum, yeah? It's rapidly diminishing what few valid points you make.

i'm going to use 2 stick from my quad set, i have had the 4 sticks at 3866mhz before on x299 build but voltages and timmings were less than desirable, will take your advice on board and if i can hit around 3733mhz with the new chip and board then i'll be happy XD

The most important thing is to maintain 1:1 infinity fabric, 3733MHz will be unlikely, very few CPUs can achieve this, but 3600MHz is quite achievable and 3200MHz now easy, then just tighten timings best you can, we have found 3200 12-14-14-28-1T possible and 14-14-14-36-1T at 3600 using Samsung B-Die.

It is truly ironic that people are ******** on Anandtech, yet the two most interesting snippets of information updates have come from them.
Anandtech was my go-to first review, and reading their review it was pretty obvious that there was a problem. Rather tellingly, no-one else even noticed that anything was wrong. No other reviewer even commented that things looked odd. They just posted their flawed reviews.

Its a shame really. The best reviewer is the one that doesn't operate on a strict deadline; **** takes as long as it takes, since the most important thing is to get it right.

Question: do we see other reviewers putting loads of effort into figuring out what is wrong?

Are you genuinely CPU limited in any games?

A massively disappointing service with OCUK today! So placed my order with them when stock levels were 10+ got order confirmation and product was still 10+ after i ordered. I went to my account and it said "order received payment pending" so I called OCUK asking what this means and they said "we are just having to manually authorize payment" no idea why but i asked that my order is OK and will still go out today? "yes this is perfectly normal you item will ship today" (3900x) so it still says on my account not shipped.
I have called OCUK and they have told me that stock is NOT reserved when you place an order!!! only when they clear the payment (that took about 20/30 mins) and that it looks like my order will not ship as in that time they all sold. They cannot tell me if they do have enough to ship me one or not only that if i wait until 5-5:30 I will find out if i am lucky enough. Needless to say if 5:30 rolls around and it does not ship (sounds very much like thats the case) it will be the last time i ever order new hardware that's in demand from OCUK. what a let down.

(to top it off the money was taken immediately from my account during this authorization thing)

DPD wouldn't let me change the location of delivery without me contacting OCUK for them to change it.
Buzzer broke so whilst being home I missed 2 delivery attempts one being an extra £5. Sadly they sent the text about not being able to enter after already driving off both times.
Guessing they have no drop off in my area which is why they couldn't offer me such a service. Only been trying since Friday for my motherboard and NVME to arrive.

Ah okay, I just have my home destination set as drop off at shop near me. Then I'd want anywhere else or signed by me cause sensitive then gets to work.

I was on Anandtech for a decade then Anand shipped out, reviews stopped happening and the forum dried up. Glad to see they're back in the game!
