Linus saying the 1800X does 4.1GHz with XFR. So a bonus 100Mhz if your cooling is up to it. So as expected XFR isn't very agressive. Just need to know if the X chips are binned at all, if not the 1700 is looking like the best option as XFR doesn't seem to be worth worrying about.

Remember that is XFR on the 95W TDP 8C parts!!

Now,think of the 4C and 6C parts?? It could mean at least 4GHZ maybe more with XFR enabled on the top parts.

Also, the 6C part probably has access to the entire L3 cache,so it makes me wonder if they will have the stongest IPC of the Ryzen parts??

The sub £300 Intel range is going to start looking very shaky now, especially if AMD can get between Haswell and BW-E level IPC in games.

It should still do the job,but if AMD can better than Haswell level IPC in games,it means that level of performance is going to be available in a £175 to £200 CPU now.

It could probs do the job, But am interested in upgrading to DDR4, New CPU and such. Was thinking about the 7000 series but now am tempted to go for a 1800x for the giggles..

I would wait and see how the reviews go - luckily for you the 4C and 6C parts are not out yet,so I suspect the secondhand price won't take an immediate hit.

Remember that cores are a pretty small part of that overall die shot, some of the chips sold as 6 cores will not be sold as 8 cores because some of the cache isn't working, others will be sold as 6 cores because some of the cores aren't working.

It's more likely than not I'd think that the L3 cache will be lower on a 6c part, but meh, who knows. We'll see, no L3 really doesn't hit performance that much, a little more L3 per core will likely make margin of error levels of difference.

Also I wouldn't be surprised to see the 6/4 core chips come in 65W or lower TDPs.

Well, I'm sat here eating my tea so it is clearly tea time and have yet to see any pre orders. I must say, I am extremely disappointed ;)
