I don't even know of this is right or not?

I think you need to have a Welkynd stone in your inventory, and then cast a ranged shock spell at the pillar.

- Is there somewhere to buy Soul Gems or can the only be found in temples/ruins/forts?
- Does leveling up change the loot in ruins etc. and change the armour/weapons worn by other people?

Erm, I think some magical stores sell them, how good/big they are I don't know. I've often seen (and stolen :p ) them from shop counters, never looked if they sell them though.

And yes, levelling up does change the loot you get. As you level you will notice people changing their armour and weapons. For example when I first saw one of those vampire hunters in the imperial city, he had steel armour. But when I came back about 15-20 levels later to hand in all my vampire dust he had full daedric armour and a daedric claymore. :)

Why can't I capture the soul of a human with any Soul Gem, I have Petty, Common, Greater and Grand Soul Gems

You need a black soul gem, think azzura's star can do it too.

I used the Vampire potion cheat....

I just find it unacceptable the only warning u have of turning into a vamp is that you can contracted something something nonsense, plain english and I wouldnt have cheated- Game design fault.

And theres no way im gonna go on a vamp cure quest that looks like completing another whole game...

Getting quite tedious and boring now actually, cos just going to each city closing gates....

no, only black soulgems.. you can make them using empty grand soulgems but takes a bit of time and planning.

I tried sticking one into the altar where the NPCs get their black soul gems from.. didnt work :(

not had any clues in game either as to how to make them. (unless it's from a book, none of which i read unless it's quest related)

Nope, that's the way it was in MW as well. It was atually worse there because the only effect from porphyric haemophilia was positive, so no red square to make it obvious that you'd been infected. At least Ob puts it in huge letters - but I've learnt to check after every vampire fight.

So you cheated also ;) cos u know b4 hand what it was :p I dont class that as a cheat/or that vamp cure in-store mod either......they shoulda made it even more clearer to what it was and at least offered alternative cures/scrolls/potions...

Even a simple You have contracted porphyric haemophilia and then people saying u look awfully pale... or why are your eyes red ?

Still ill visit a chapel after each vamp fight for sure....

I must admit, I have cheated once, although I feel it was justified. I'd just finished a FIghters Guild quest and returned to the bloke who sent me on it, only to find I'd been booted out of the Fighters Guild for stealing  I'd never even touched a Fighters Guild item before so that's clearly wrong.

They told me to go out and find 20 bear skins, which was further complicated by the fact that I have the Hunters Mod installed, so brown bears and black bears give different types of skins. I was in a bad mood at the time so I just thought balls to this and used the console :p

Do whatever you need to do to enjoy YOUR game. If that means summoning stuff then eh, fine by me

I'm of the "cba to find 20 bears, player.AddItem ........." school of thought ;)

I only do it with the mundane stuff though......
