An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Do whatever you need to do to enjoy YOUR game. If that means summoning stuff then eh, fine by me

I'm of the "cba to find 20 bears, player.AddItem ........." school of thought ;)

I only do it with the mundane stuff though......

Abso-flamin-lutely.
No broken quest, glitch or monotonous item search gets in the way of my enjoyment.

Sounds like i was one of the few to do the vampire cure potion quest then. Though in the end the extra skills vampirism gives you werent outweighed by the negatives for me - only fast travel after 8pm means by the time you get to a shop its closed so you have to find some where inside to wait until 9am at which point you have to run through the daylight before you burst into flames.

Admitedly when I got kicked out of the Mages guild I would've reloaded to an earlier save if the previous one wasnt hours before hand but at least in looking for 20 redwort and 20 dragons tongue I found loadsa nirnroot.

I definately agree with the 'I'l play the game my own way' - some people dont agree with fast travel but I have exams so dont have time to spend 30 minutes trapsing across the land - plus sometimes its like a slide show on horse back - each to their own :)

Why is the maximum stats in a RPG always 255? (I remember reading about it a few years ago when I was playing FF7)
Because 255 is the biggest number you can store in an 8-bit unsigned integer, i.e. one byte. :)

They could just use two bytes, that is a 16-bit unsigned integer, which would allow 65535 maximum though... I guess the devs just got lazy :p
I think it is left over from a time where memory and space were more valuable, the same as the milennium bug where they use 85 instead of 1985 to save space.

Which is why the maximum possible level in Morrowind is level 65535. After that you get more health but I believe all the other stats reset.

What is the deal with training.
- How often can you do it?
- What trainers are available?
- Does it raise any stats?
- Can you do them all or do you have to choose which one?

5 times per level.
Dutch Guy said:

Several per skill - there is only one master trainer per skill though.

Stats go up per level. Training major skills does help towards the '10' skill increases per level.

Up to you. Each trainer can only train one skill. You can have a mix of 5 skills, or choose the same one 5 times (per level remember).

Ah, I understand, so if I find my Marksman ability stats are a little low I can train that 5 times while being at level 11, when I go to level 12 I can train 5 times again.

Does anyone know if it is possible to train the Marskman ability?

You can train each skill five times at Novice, Apperntice, Journyman, Expert levels.

Yes it is possible to train your Marksman ability

 not sure what you mean by that, as above you can train any combination of skills up to a total of five per level.

There are two low-level (0-40), two medium-level (41-70) and one master (71-100) trainer for each skill. Once you get to 70 in that skill, you should have a topic called Training in conversation with a medium-level trainer and they will direct you to the master trainer who will probably have a short quest for you to complete before they will train you.
