An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

I believe 100 is the max you can reach without using items to boost it higher. There are ways of reducing some of your stats by spending time in jail but i am not too sure on how that works meself.

What level are you?

I'm only level 10, Grey Fox, Arena Champion, Arch Mage, Fighter Guild Master and Listener in the Dark Brotherhood. Havent touched the main quest yet.
I am level 16, finished the DB quests, 95% Thief guild, 25% Fighters guild, 5% Mages guild, Arena champion.

Maybe I will do some Fighters guild quests and use Blunt instead of Blade, or even Hand to Hand to level myself some more but every level I gain means all the enemies will also level so I guess it's a lose/lose situation

Not totally. The loot is also levelled ;) I'm level 43 at the moment and am having a fine time at the tail end of the main quest. Haven't even started the DB, Thief or Fighters guild yet and am several steps away from being the Arena champion!

I understand but I have been using the Umbra sword since I was level 7 and I think there isn't a better sword in the game, or is there?

Only thing I don't have yet is Daedra armour (and Glass armour) but is that really a lot better than Ebony armour?

I do need a good powerful Blunt weapon though as the Glass mace/warhammer (enchanted or not) is a lot less powerful than swords and Blunt is a major for me.

I'd reccomend finishing the thieves guild quest to get the Cowl as it is a really nice bit of kit that will help you no end.

It depends upon the circumstances. I also use Umbra quite a lot, but the Sigil stones are also levelled and can be used to create some pretty powerful items - +50 magicka, +10 Strength or +25 shock damage and so on. Shock weapons are very useful again Daedra and Dremora. I've just completed a quest and found that the guy I killed in combat dropped 573 Daedric arrows and hundreds of Glass, Elven and Silver ones! I'm not sure what I'd get at lower levels!

Other useful stuff at higher levels are the Amulet of Swords (+25 Blade and 33% Reflect damage), Amulet of Axes (+25 Blunt and 33% Reflect damage) and the Mundane Ring (50% Magic resistance and 35% Reflect Spell). It's great watching an opponent hit you and then fall over :)

Daedric Armour is about 25% better than the Ebony equivalent - eg. Ebony Cuirass gives base armor of 15, Daedric is 18.75

OK the official Oblivion patch is out (v.1.1.511), it claims to have improved SLI performance, has anyone seen/benchmarked it ?

Argh!

Vampirism is a pain! (arf!)

Nearly got it cured, but had to cheat getting a couple of the items (without spoilers, I needed 5 of these difficult and valuable items - managed to get three empty ones and two full ones and got so fed, up I spawned two empty ones :()

Got all the other ingredients, except the dust...

Yeah its a pain but it makes you appreciate something you took for granted! (Daylight).

W00t!

I'm cured!

And I'm kicking some butt now I'm levelling up properly. Found some sweet Elven light armour too.

Now I'm a bit more fire-resistant (shakes fist at vampirism) I suppose I better go close some gates...

I've just got myself a new ATi X1900XT card for Oblivion. However, after playing it on my Xbox 360, I'm disappointed to say the least. The game still looks a bit flat on the PC.

For instance, right at the very beginning when the Blades are fighting with the Mythic Dawn chaps - when they die on the Xbox 360 they disappear in a puff of red smoke and a really cool heat haze/shimmer effect. I don't get this on the PC at all - it's just the red smoke. Is this something unique to the 360's DirectX feature set?

It shimmers and hazes for me... you got all details maxed?

I haven't seem the 360 version, but the Mythic Dawn people do shimmer when die, and cause a "gravitational" type distortion on the light path through them. A bit like they're made out of water, as they disappear.

Multiplayer Oblivion Alpha - briefly
(hx) 10:17 AM EDT - Jun,26 2006 - Post a comment
The MultiTES4: Multiplayer Oblivion has a patch to add multiplayer support to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion:

What can MultiTES4 actually do?
The current version (being only an alpha) is pretty limited in it's capabilities. It supports only 2 people running around Cyrodiil. The other players in the game are represented as NPCs to each individual on their computer. The NPC will move and travel to match the players that are connected to the server.

What can't MultiTES4 do?
At the moment, the following haven't been implemented: time/day/year synchronisation, quest sharing, deathmatch, cell/world synchronisation, err pretty much everything else you can think of. Console commands aren't blocked, either is fast travel. Animations aren't shared, neither is inventories or attributes. I wasn't kidding when I said it was the basics.
