An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

I am in the same boat as you Neo, created custom class and it might as well have been a BattleMage . Just seems a little easy at the moment, I am not a huge fan of that heavy armour the class has been given, in fact I am thinking of starting again with a new character.

Any way of making seperate saved game files with titles?
I've not worked out how to give them a name like in Morrowind...

just played this all weekend with my assasin/thief/alchiemist and got him up to level 18 so far. its a lot different to morrowind i really have to roleplay him no standing in front of an enemy and just bashing away, not gonna last long. i have to poisen my dagger and get in sneak kills, then its a few quick stabs and back off before the enemy gets a swing in then stab again hehe its great! sometimes the enemy will stand there with his huge heavy armor and massive warhammer or whatnot and it looks like he doesnt know how to handle me hahaha ooooo and i just looted a vampire and got a glass bow woohooo.

back to oblivion!

anyone found any underwater caves yet? got a ring of water breathing CE so why would they have that in the game? pearl hunting only?

Anyone been to thosewierd stones with the markings on, just on the cliff outside anvil? If you go near them and [spacebar] you get a wierd bound daedric helmet and bow - whats that about?

how are you guys lvling up lol.

its not like wow i have a progress bar, i know i need to kill x amount to lvl, i just seem to be stuck at lvl 1, done a fair few theif guild quests and such also, now a brawler in the arena, but dont seem to be able to lvl.

if yuou open your journal and click on your health/magika bars then thats alll your characters stats.

Look no offence mate but I disagree wholeheartedly, I'm not stupid I know how pc games have performd in the past and over the last 2 years most people will agree that pc games gfx have stagnated, yet the system requirments to play these games have quadrupled, I play farcry maxed out with HDR and it looks amazingly better than oblivion, I'd also say the same for chronicles of riddick and performance wise they both it eats it for breakfast, games developers are getting more lazzy by the day, I truely, truely, believe that if optimized properly and coded better oblivion could run at 60fps on a 3gig cpu with a 6800gt.

I agree, also the way the hardware manufactures are going with pathetically small increments in performance and higher prices is going to kill pc gaming for good one day but they may end up losing out in the long run i think.

The xbox 360 is very powerful and better than many high end specs yet it costs as much as a half decent cpu, i can't see myself bothering to keep up with pc upgrades when there is a far cheaper and better gaming solution available.

I don't have oblivion yet but would i be wrong to expect it to run smooth on high to ultra high at 1280 by 720 +2xAA +bloom on my 3500 cpu, 1gb ram, 6800gt and 74gb raptor?

Nah, I dont think Oblivion has peaked over 1GB yet (but maybe it does if you bump up the settings), would make no difference getting more.

Go to sleep when the progress bar is full, you will then level up.

Is there a symbol to the right of your compass (arrowlike)? You cant level until you take a nap in a bed. You have probably enough experience to level a few times, just keep taking an hour nap until the symbol disappears.

I've clocked up 20 hours this weekend and have only just got up to level 4. I'm also just in the process of doing the first oblivion gate thingy.

TES (The Elder Scrolls) is the name of the game series, of which Morrowind was the 3rd, and Oblivion the 4th.
