An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Lol thought so... i'd spoiler that btw :P
:o done :o

i dont think the weapons room contains EVERY weapon in the game... because i can't see the Akavari Warblade or the Akavari Sunderblade in there.

a few other little things too that i can't see.

the Umbra is definately the most powerful thing in the room anyway, with the Goldbrand coming second and the glass and deadric longswords not far behind.

daedric claymore looks good, but i woud sell it if i ever got it because i dont like two handed weapons :o

yaaaaaaaaaaay :D
got my Glass Longsword from one of the Dark Brotherhood Quests :D

will post a screenie in a few... gotta restart and turn off AA

edit:
also about the talk of better weapons coming later in the game... as far as i can tell its a definate no-no... i decided to test out some of the testing warehouses (didn't take anything before anyone goes CHEAT CHEAT) and there is one designed specifically for weapons, the room is full of tables devided up into categories of weapons (silver, metal, fine metal, unique, magical, elvan, daedric etc...)

best weapon i saw was the Goldbrand (as far as one handed swords go) which was the best that Morrowind had to offer as well (iirc).

Doh! In that case I am extremely disapointed with that aspect of the game. Don't get me wrong, absolutely love Oblivion and still consider it my favourite game of all time but the fact the best armour and weapons in the game drop off almost every single thing you kill once you are past level 21/22 really ruins the sense of accomplishment. I already have both Goldbrand and Umbra which are both fantastic of course but I also now have about 25 Daedric longswords, 20+ Daedric Claymores, about 15 full suits of Daedric armour etc... etc...

Still I am loving the game in every other way so I can't really complain too much. :)

Aha, just found some info on taking screenshots (for those who dont use FRAPS). When you change the ini file to make oblivion create its own screenshot files, it only works if you use HDR, not if you use AA + bloom.

Not tried HDR yet, might see what it's like, i wanna be able to take screenshots easily without installing another prog :)

Indeed, that stumped me for ages. I wasl ike, i could take them yesterday!!

Getting fed up with willow the misps tbh nothing seems to kill the damn things and they take your hp just before your about to kill them.

Anyone know of a way to kill the damn things? I've killed one but that took ages and the place i'm going now has loads to deal with :(

The hints and tips thread explains. Use silver weapons or magic/enchanted weapons :p

Ooh look! Pretty helm!

They annoy me too. :(

The biggest problem I find with wisps is that they sap all of your stats, making you a weakling and unable to do much damage to them; the worst being fatigue. If your fatigue bar is empty, you'll do next to no damage. I'd try taking a few fatigue potions when fighting wisps. :)

Why have gamespot.co.uk given oblivion for the 360 9.6 and the pc only 9.3?

Maybe it has more competition in the RPG field on PC? So relatively they marked it down slightly. Not trying to start a console vs. PC war here, RPGs just tend to be a more common genre to be found on PCs in my experience.

I haven't read the reviews so I can't answer that question, but my guess would be because certain aspects of the game aren't making full use of the PC's potential.

For example, the interface isn't using the full potential of the PC's control system - There's no custom keybindings...etc The PC version uses the same simplified, dumbed down interface that the console version uses.

It's quite evident that this game has been developed primarily for consoles, and that little has been done to improve the game where possible for the PC version.

true true... guess i never really looked at it like that, maybe a patch could change this current menu system for us pc users?

Aye... the console-ish interface really gets to me as well... the tab interface is horribly bulky and it's a pain having to keep switching between spells, items, map, journal and so on. I preferred Morrowind's no crap all-in-one interface (although it didn't look as nice).

Another thing that really gets to me is the lock picking mini-game... they've made almost no effort to make that easier for PC users... you can't even use the keys!

Sorry to post this but I have tried looking through the Thread but it's to big,

What is the command to show FPS?

Thanks guys and sorry to have to post this, just a massive thread to look though.
