An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Just started playing earlier and lol at the time. Flew by. Made my own custom rogueish mage type and got it up to level 3. Sucked me right in. Got to Kvaatch (god knows if i spellt that right) and it seems like i may have advanced a little too fast even though i did explore a load of dungeon type things on my way there. Won't say any more in case i spoil it for someone but those that know should i stay away for the time being until i'm a little higher.

On a side note i rode up to some hippies on a hill on my stolen horse and had a nice little chat, as soon as i mounted to leave they called me theif and tried to give me a thorough kicking. Is that normal?

Kvatch, so you were close :p

well, i'm level 12 (haven't played the game in two days  been too busy shockingly!) and i haven't gone to Kvatch yet... i've been too busy doing the Arena in Imperial City (i'm Grand Champion), Theives Guild Quests, Dark Brotherhood Quests, Mage's Guild Quests, quests for people i meet in towns etc...

as far as the horse goes...
only thing i can think of is the AI was a bit flawed...
because they initially didn't see you steal the horse they believed it to be yours.
when you climbed back onto the horse (and the horse shoe logo showed it was red/stealing) the AI picked up that it was a stolen horse.

odd way of looking at it though, since even if you did steal the horse, they'd have no way (if they'd just met you) knowing it was stolen... it could be your horse for all they knew... its not like it has a licence plate stuck on its butt or something

ARRRRRRRR doing the last quest for the thieves guild and getting totally slaughtered by dread zombies and im even using a glass longsword, cast a skele at it, one hit and the skele flew apart

i dont understand why my thief is so weak, i can hardly beat anything in the arena and even random mobs around the world im struggling with, using the DB armour and silver dagger currently, im lvl8.

Theres a nice little expolit for the arena, as long as u have a reasonable acrobat lvl 30+ i think and a bow with lots of arrows.

Just got it, right i don't care about graphics. Will I be ok on the lowest settings?

AMD64 3000+
1 Gig GeiL.
9600xt 256mb.

Please say yes :D

Been playing it for a bit, low settings and at 1024x768(Monitors 1280x1024 :(). its not bad! I may tweak somestuff though!

I was getting ripped by those Argonian trio anyhow I gave up and wandered about, found a temple and some bandits. The one guy had a pucker sword that dealt heaps of fire dammage as well. Grabbed that and the orc armour and went back to the arena.

Killed each argonian in 3 hits before I was getting no where with a Dwarven Claymore thingy.

Oh, also what have people done with that Mr Whippy hairstyled fan elf?

I forgot he was following me about and he acted as a very good decoy by an Oblivion gate

Got back from work yesterday and had a nice suprise on my doorstep. Played for a couple of hours before g/f returned from work. Installed it pronto and created a Custom Theif Wood Elf. Done the 'tutorial' / dungeons/sewers and have followed a river west and now going up a big hill.

Got 2 questions though:
1. How do you bring up the map, and fast travel (although won't fast travel as enjoying the walk)
2. I thought bows + sneak gave a x2 multiplier, not 3 as I'm getting. And do you get headshot bonuses?

Great game so far...

Edit: To above post - I just go in the inventory and drag them out, unless there's a quicker way...

Could someone kindly save me a bit of searching and tell how you drop items when you are carrying too many.

Just shift-left click the item that you need dropped.

Also how do you surrender? I accidently slashed my stolen horse and its now trying to kill me and I want it to stop it!

so I've now come to the conclusion that being a thief is useless if you want to complete the main quest as I just can't kill anything without taking a severe battering. I've had numerous fights with numerous creatures, using block, but they all seem so much stronger. I've had to resort to getting the dungeon goblins to chase me out and relying on a patrolling guard to do the work for me :p. I can, however, break into people houses and steal their goodies.

Before I restart and create a combat character, can I rapidly increase my comabt skill by joining the fighters guild or fighting in the arena?

Hold block and activate your attacker (spacebar) to yield, they'll stop attacking if they want to.

Ah ok, think i'll head on out of the oblivion gate for a bit till i get a bit more skilled. Probably try and get myself in a guild.

Do i have to speak to someone to learn new spells etc or do i get them automatically when i level?

Although that can be fun, there is really no need due to the levelling system in the game. I did the first gate at level 4 :)

I had a strange experience last night, upon talking to a any guard I would get arrested, nothing stolen in my inventory, I triple checked. I paid the fine and checked again, nothing was gone? I wasn't on horse back so it couldn't be that!

btw The last time that this happened to me, I couldn't get into any town without being attacked...I then realised that I was riding someone else's horse that was identical to mine :D
