Guyver i've not heard anything about
Oedo 808 was released in the US on a single DVD, but it was badly bugged (i think one audio track had echos from the other track or something), and has recently been rereleased as a fixed version, unfortunately on 3 discs as opposed to the original single disc release

The good news is that you can pick them up for about £6-7 each (so about £21 for all 3).

Its got these elements to the show, Action, Politics, idiology, Alien, mystisisam, a lot of flash backs to the past.
There are dark under tones to the story which i engoyed, for the price of £20 its well worth it. bear in mind i got it when it was being released
If you've seen shows like Gundum wing or Masrtion succesor Nadesico, i'd say the mecha was closer to those of Nadesico. the machines them selfs aren't huge and massive there about 3-4 meters tall? and the show does dipicets them getting damaged, which in most mecha shows you dont find (from what i can remmber)
One of the things i liked about it was the relatively realistic apporach to the mecha, the way that they weren't massive, or invunerable and the way that they were designed to be easily repaired on the battlefeild/near it as quickly as possible, and mass produced (same as with most tanks etc).
I quite like Gasaraki, but must admit it is rather slow in places if you're not into the political/conspiracy side of things

I picked it up at rightstuf for about £30 last year in one of their sales, otherwise i'd be a tad annoyed at the price now
Now for another recommendation, id anyone is interested Last Exile is due to be released here starting this month.
I've been picking up the US release (the UK release was only announced about 4-6 months ago), and have to say it's been one of my favourite new anime this year.
It's about a world (possibly human colony???) where the most common form of transport is by air, and there are three main forces, two warring nation states and a group called "The guild" who seem to playing them off against each other and in charge of the most advanced technology (and determined not to loose that advantage).
The designs of the airships and weapons are rather good, sort of a mix of hightech based around 19th and early 20th century methods (things like the steam muskets).
The story follows two couriers in their unarmed "Vanship" (what looks almost like an advanced aircraft based around a 1940's design), who get caught up in the middle of the conflict.
I'm just waiting for the last disc to arrive so that i can rewatch it from beginning to end
