I know all about mental health/alcoholism and what it can do. Still doesn't excuse drink driving though.
Here we go, it took ages to get the first one.
"because I'm so much better than you I haven't got a TV, anybody who watches TV is a pleb" etc etc etc
Anyway, just bought a Classic Vibe Telecaster to add to the collection of working guitars![]()
I don't watch these programs, but I'll tell you now they aren't popular because these 2 present them, they're just generic presenters filling a role. There's nothing special about them at all.
You're wrong, but carry on.
I don't doubt they're competent as presenters, but no more than anyone else I see on TV. If you kept the X-Factor in the same format but replaced their scripted pieces with another prime time presenter no one would give a **** after a couple of weeks.

This ^ strikes me as quite insightful. A good explanation.Alcoholism requires dishonesty, both to oneself and to others. If he knew his mum was going to be angry or disappointed in him because he'd been drinking it makes it hard for him to admit to her that he's not in a fit state to drive. This is probably particularly true when your livelihood depends on your public image, which depends on your appearing to be sober and 'over your alcohol and drug issues' having recently come out of rehab. Society might tolerate the need to go to rehab, but it doesn't like or understand relapses. All of which puts extraordinary pressure on the alcoholic who often responds by behaving in a way they know to be wrong 'just this once'. Humans have an amazing capacity to justify their behaviour, even if they know its wrong. How many of us speed in the middle of night saying 'its quiet'? Alcoholics take this to another level.

I hope he can turn his life around. Its obvious he is suffering in life. Wish him all the very best.
People make very bad decisions while suffering mental health issues, people make bad decisions due to alcohol, just because you didn't doesn't mean that it's not a possibility. You only have to look at suicide as a prime example of this. It's a bad decision made at a moment in life where the person is at one of the lowest points possible and chances are, if they could hold on longer they'd pass through that feeling and be thankful they didn't make it.
As for the situation with Ant, I'm not a fan of the pair and he's made a completely stupid decision for someone so in the public eye, but, that doesn't mean it's the end of anything. Look at Robert Downey Jr and his history with drugs/prison. Celebrities can and do turn their lives around.
I personally wish him all the best in his recovery and hope that he gets and stays clean, that he makes it through the bad times. No doubt once he is clean he'll be making amends with the little girl and the people involved in the accident.
The saddest thing is that he has potentially not just ended one career but two. I can imagine him feeling suicidal, let so many people down.
fun fact; Dermot left the xfactor in 2015 to presue other projects. He was back in 2017.... Evidently, people did give a **** (*).
(*) Not me though.
