Ant McPartlin

That's a big level of tolerance. He eventually got 4 months.

So in conclusion under 11 pints no jail, over 11 jail.

If he was 3x over he probably wouldn't have got jail.
Obviously if they have crashed into something and put somebody in hospital then rules will change.

After being arrested at over 4 times the legal limit is a custodial sentence likely, and what costs are likely to be incurred?
Firstly this is a serious offence. Your husband should, if possible, instruct a solicitor to represent him. We would be happy to offer an initial interview to discuss the case in more detailed and thereafter provide a fixed fee quote.

I have to say that a custodial sentence in these circumstances is a real possibility. The court’s sentencing guidelines indicate that custody is appropriate for readings of over 116 milligrams of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35milligrams. Therefore four times the legal limit would be 140 milligrams. It is rare to come across readings of over 150 milligrams so your husband’s reading is at the top end of what the court’s are accustomed to dealing with. On this basis a custodial sentence may well be imposed but this will very much depend on the mitigation put forward in court on his behalf. He needs representation with someone with lots of experience in dealing with cases like this as this could make a difference.

I am a bit tired of the media, be it the papers or TV, playing the sympathy card. He was caught being over the limit and might well have caused serious injury or death. It it were Joe public then the attitude from the media would be very different.

I had some ***** break my jaw in a bar. Total sucker punch. That guy got some hours community service and I got a 6 weeks of my mouth tied shut and a diet of soup.

People saying prison prison bla bla bla have no idea how the system works. Things are judged on a case by case basis. Waffling on about "normal folk" getting prison time is so stupid.

Add in the fact that he probably has hundreds of character witnesses from a career spanning decades. If he was such a **** then people would have been coming out of the woodwork to **** him off.

I see people texting and driving every day. That's illegal but I don't condemn them all to hell.

I have sympathy for anyone struggling with a mental illness and consequential addiction, however if this accident had resulted in the death of the young girl (which it could have easily done) I wonder how much leniency people would allow this guy then.

The moment anyone's 'illness' impacts on the health and safety of an innocent third party I tune out of listening to what they have to say.

Clearly he knew he had a problem, and only checks into rehab to get himself treatment when he injures a young girl and his career gets the squeeze. Give me a break....

i just watched that youtube clip, this isnt going to end well for him

Some people see bladdered and some people see shock.
I remember when a Nurse hit my bike with her car that all the witnesses thought she was drunk, she was breathalysed and she was teetotal.

I don't understand how anyone can feel able to drive after a few drinks.

Even after just one I can feel the affects, makes no sense at all me so don't feel any sympathy for him, if you're the type that makes bad decisions when under the influence you shouldn't drink at all.

Well he looked absolutely sozzled, and was then arrested for being over the limit, so your comment is redundant. I said career I should have said commercial interests, like the Suzuki adverts. Lots of famous people have lost jobs concerning cars after drunk driving offences. Vic Reeves and Churchill, Alistair Stewart Police Camera, action. You think James Cordon would still be allowed to do Carpool Karaoke if he had plowed into 2 cars whilst over the limit?

My comment isn't redundant. People can be over the limit the next day while they appear completely sober to look at. He could easily have been over the limit but come across as sober, had he of been completely sozzled do you think his mum would have got in the car with him knowing his history? It's more likely he was over the limit, appeared sober but the reality and realisation of what a **** he'd been and how his future was in tatters mixed with shock was having a negative effect on his mental ability to process what was going on, causing people like yourself believe him to be sozzled.

Yes, his Suzuki days are done, unless they release some sort of comedy **** take using this. Ant leaning in and saying "just make sure your sober" :D :D

Depends what you're drinking and how it effects you. I've done VR gaming drunk, racing around a track. After a few beers then yes, I'd agree. After 4/5 Vodka's, I'd feel fine and be able to drive fine but I'd be well over the limit. I agree on the last part though, Gin turns me into a right evil ****** so I don't drink it. In fact, I went 12 months without a single drink because it was having a negative effect on me, but then I rarely drink.

I doubt it's quite as easy for an alcoholic to stop drinking though so many an driving ban or breathilizer lock on the car.

What you drink makes no difference at all, I've never understood that.

Strength and quantity is the only thing that matters, what you drink will effect your hangover though.

If you can't feel the effect after 5 units then you shouldn't be drinking.

This could well be the end of Ant & Dec and possibly Ant for good, and the turning point of a solo career for Dec. I can imagine it's only months away from them creating the Declan Donnelly show. He was always the funnier of the two imo. Ant is very likeable but was never funny, just a good sideman to Dec. Realistically, should probably have been the Dec & Ant show.

'Declan Donnelly will present Britain’s Got Talent on his on in the wake of Ant McPartlin’s drink-drive arrest.
Eamonn Holmes, as many other celebs have suggested (like Piers Morgan), reckons there’s no reason Dec can’t handle hosting duties on his own: "Why does he need anyone?" he asked. "He can handle that on his own. You don’t dilute the brand, it’s quite logical. Declan is a great presenter on his own anyway.

I was shocked to hear this,

Grew up watching him and dec from when I was like 12.... it's sad how many celebs get themselves caught into a cycle of addiction and self destructive behaviour.

You say he doesn't look drunk, I say he does. The only info we have is that he was arrested for drink driving... And you don't know anything about his mums character, for all we know she could be an alcoholic too, it does run in families. His best case scenario now is like you say, he was still drunk from the night before. Worst that he was totally sloshed, then we might see the press go in a bit harder on him.

They are good presenters. Each year they clean up with awards. Doesn't matter if you don't like them, millions do, and they are good at their jobs.

Good at entertaining millions of idiots. As for being good at their jobs? i wouldn't call talking crap a job as such.

Furthermore, he did look very drunk to me, and being a bit of an alchoholic myself, i feel qualified to make that statement. Though his mother deserves as much punishment as him for allowing him to drive in the first place. Like a poster mentioned above, she may well be a drunk herself.
