I find it tiring arguing the case against the war on this forum, because the majority here are against it, and a large proportion resort to patronising and insulting language in response.

I've learned that the fact a majority believe something to be right, does not necessarily mean it is right. This war is a clear example of that. The arguments against it are irresistible and overwhelming yet the pro-war people ignore the mass of evidence which conflicts with their entrenched blinkered position.

Quite.

ditto but replace pro-war with antiwar and anti-war with pro-war.

Wasnt their a poll recently about the war and if I remember correctly the last time I looked more people were for the war.

Buck, if you really feel for the plight of the Iraqi people, why not talk the millions who have been displaced by Saddam. Even before the Gulf war 1.

Do you know the fear they felt. Do you know haow hard it is to move from your home, knowing any of your family you leave behind will shot at dawn??

Do you Know??

I ask.

Do you know who put Saddam in power, and sold him his arms, knowing he would use them on the Kurds?

Do you know?

I ask.

Evidence about weapons will be inaccurate as Saddam has had years and years to work out how to hide them.

I seem to have missed the irresistible and overwhelming arguments against war? All I can see is that Saddam Hussain is an evil dictator that kills his own people for fun. What are the arguments against the war? Are people like this needed to make the world go round or something?

It's not great, but nor is it as bad as we've had it made out to us. I think people are trying to leave the country now because it's about to get bombed back to the stone age. The guys who had it tough before, are the Kurds, and frankly it's not just Saddam having a go at them. Turkey has a fairly bad record in this area too, but we don't talk about that because we want to fly planes out of there.

How many gold plated palaces does Saddam have? and how many people are starving in Iraq. nuff said:rolleyes:

Well I have made three posts in this thread asking for the alternative, so go back and read those posts and tell me the so called "irresistable and overwhelming arguments". I have yet to see anyone propose an alternative to war that has not been tried in teh last 12 Years, or are you ignorant enough to believe that you can think up an alternative, which has eluded the UN for such a long time.

You have done nothing but argue for the sake of it which is pointless

Ratty

We have been arguing about Iraq for months in numerous threads. Go and read some of them if you haven't already.

And I never argue for the sake of arguing.

I think that in general people try to find information to affirm what they already believe. This war is a classic for that.

Lets just hope that as many people survive as possible.

its pointless arguing this.. the anti-war say they're right, the pro-war say they're right..

whatever, the war is happening, iraq will be liberated.. we'll see what the iraqi people say when its all over wont we.

you said most people here were against the war when the poll clearly says the opposite IIRC;)

I hope as many peole survive as possible too. Goes without saying.

btw, if you watched bbc as i type, its laughable what some protesters are saying. They obviously have no clue, and are spoiling the name of genuine protesters, perhaps people like your girlfriend.

"Why are you here today"

"i wanted to come to support my friends here, war is wrong cos people get killed."

All this was said whilst giggling!
