AS SSD Benchmark benchmarks!

60GB OCZ Solid 2, very happy.

I've had a 160GB Intel X25 G2 since launch, I never got around to applying the Trim firmware update. Now the Win 7 RC has 11 days until it restarts every 2 hours - I decided to sort it out, fresh install of Win 7 RTM - Apply Firmware then run the SSD trim tool & benchmark again.

Pre Firmware...

Worth doing!

Got mine setup last night... Fresh Install of W7, updated firmware, standard W7 drivers..

Seems to be around the norm performance... I'm happy with it :D

Reasonable its about the same as other 80GB G2's or very close with the latest firmware as well. This is on Vista Ultimate 32bit + SP2 but using the Intel iastor driver as its much faster than the msahci one which is crazy but true. Looks like MS need to update their Vista SSD drivers (I doubt they will though just tell people they need to buy Windows7 instead !!).

Thats about right, if you see Here I was getting around the same...

How do you use the iastor driver instead of the ahci one? :)

My motherboard is a Gigabyte Ex-58 Extreme so it has the Intel ICH10 raid controller etc

I had previously been running 2 SSDs in RAID0 but then had reset them to non RAID which mean't that they then ran in AHCI mode but were still using the original (ICH10R) drivers (iastor) that I had installed when I set up the original RAID0...

The AHCI drivers do exactly the same thing...ie enable HDDs/SSDs to run in AHCI mode...

here are my SSD and raid0 samsung F1 benchies.

those raid HDDs doing pretty well for the seq scores i gotta say. kinda surprising.

the 4k and 4k-64Thrd scores comming off peoples intel ssds are nuts btw! im jealous.

oh the ssd is on 1919 firmware windows 7 latest drivers etc etc

Using the Intel Rapid Storage Technoglogy drivers.

Here's my newly purchased 64G Crucial:

Lower sequential speeds than higher capacity drives, but the 4K stuff is up there, which I believe to be more important on an OS and essential everyday programmes drive.

I have the 160GB 2nd generation Intel SSD and I'm now using msahci instead of pciide which it originally installed with (I've had the drive about a week now)...and if proof were needed that these drivers make a difference:

 blimey!

just benchamrked mine again after 3 weeks use

with msachi driver, Think I settle with default driver
