Ashes thread - England vs Australia * SPOILERS *

Poor batting with the exception of KP and Strauss who was unlucky. Jones needs to go, if he's in due to his batting, he's failing miserably. Fletcher's only reason for not playing Monty looks a bit silly really doesn't it. About time they got rid of him and got someone more positive in.

id say the ashes are gone... the only thing you can take for granted at the minute is englands ability to collapse. I know a lot of people have their opinion on batsmen performing badly. I think Freddie has been especially poor this series. Just look at Ponting and how he can play a captains innings. Freddie comes in and trys to hit everything outa the ground. Jones should be dropped as he is clearly out of form. England need a miracle to get back from this now.
As for Monty he is just a legend. And he can bat just as well as Giles by the looks of things!

last year south africa had a 100 run lead after first innings ..then the aussies scored high in second one.. set the africans 500 i think.. ended in a draw..they lost 5 wickets .. so it seems the pitch plays better for batsmen later in the test.. thing is we ned batsmen.they are our big downfall.. when we won the ashes last year we where scoring 300 in first innings.. this time we stuggle to get 200.. and with no simon jones we lack in the bowling department to. can`t put all the weight on montys shoulders,or for that matter harmison.. freddy can`t captain bowl and bat..botham couldn`t so freddy can`t either.. strauss should have been captain.keeper shouldn`t play another test for england either.. he is useless.. read is 10times better.. well heres to another day of getting pommie bashed in the pub..

Things not looking good right now, this pitch was extremely hard to bat on and I think now it has got easier but if the Aussies bat out the full day then England face a certain defeat.

Also anyone see that straight drive by Panesar off Clark? Bloody hell what a shot and that from a Number 11 batsman! Tendulkar would have been proud of that one :D

Did you see the smiles from the rest of the england camp when Monty was batting?? Absolutely amazing stuff. This guy is a legend and all english cricket fans have just fallen for him.

That drive was class as was the sweep of warne for 4 .... see below!

What is the worst England have ever done in an Ashes series down under - have we gone a series without winning a single test before? It looks a distinct possibility this time.

Come home lads I don't think I can stomach any more punishment :( Normally we pick up the odd test win once the ashes are won but It wouldnt suprise me if they want to do us 5-0 this time.

2 days left, 550 behind, totally outclassed.

57 ball century for Gilchrist cracking knock.

Gilchrist was due a good score against but he is taking the mick here, 100 off 57 balls is insane at ODI level let alone Test  I bet all those failures against England had just built up and he wanted to prove a point here. Hussey was also due a century as well, 3 knocks over 70 and I think Clarke has just about saved his test place.

Got up this morning expecting a fight here but the Aussies have run riot here, need to go and watch highlights of the SA match at this ground last year and draw inspiration from that! What the hell has happened :(

Didn't expect to wake up to that scoreline. How the hell did they get to 529 so fast? It was only a few days ago I watched England score a few runs in the time it must have taken Australia to score a few hundred. At least Strauss has got us off to a steady start :(

Wow what an awesome awesome Aussie 2nd innings batting...second fastest century for Gilchrist who definitely needed a good knock as he hasnt been doing too well with the bat. Hussey yet again comes through, the guy is a class act and seems like hes Englands biggest thorn in the backside...a bit like Pietersen....but so far Hussey has out performed him time and time again...if anything i wouldnt be surprised if Hussey is the man of the series...definitely deserves it after the way hes been batting and about time he got his century as well.

Stayed up most of the night to watch the Aussies well and truly batter England into bloody submission. 2 days and 9 wickets left for the English to save this match....highly unlikely though. Looks like the Aussies have well ad truly grabbed the Ashes back.

Have to say after all that hard work that Panesar put in, the batting goes and lets them down...fair enough Strauss has had 2 bad calls against him and i feel for him..even todays wicket shouldnt have been given out...guess its just bad luck hes having. Mind you being hit for 24 off one over...well thats pretty embarrassing for that lad Panesar tbh.

Still in shock at how devastatingly good the Aussies are when it comes to batting and bowling. Its like i was reading something a while back, England bowlers between them cant get the full 20 wickets...its a joke really.

I can see Macgrath, Clark, Lee and possibly Warne running rampant over the English bowlers later tonight...ill definitely be watching to see how the English batters cope. But its a foregone conclusion that the Aussies will have the Ashes back after this match...England should be well and truly ashamed of their performance tbh...no one has really stepped up have they??. Flintoff has been an utter flop with the bat and the ball...usually happens with English captains doesnt it??. Whereas the Aussies dont seem to have any such problems..Ponting has been in fine form with the rest of his squad...today Hayden, Hussey, Clark and Gilchrist all stood up and made their intentions clear.

Simply amazing the Aussie batting in the 2nd innings...will be interesting to see if England can withstand the Aussie onslaught later tonight/tommorrow.

OMG:eek: Gilchrist just hit Panesar for 24 off an over.

Well they, Aussies did say they were going to hit him out of the ground and so they have...really went after the guy..felt bad for him tbh..no one should be hit that hard in one over.. He might have had a great first innings but 2nd innings it was a different ballgame....they really went after the lad.
