Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Well no matter what I do, what gfx settings I can't seem to get a smooth framerate and playing at 30-38fps is awful plus it drops during combat !!!1 What's more frustrating is how AC Origins ran silky smooth 60fps+ no matter what was onscreen.

Might shelve it for a patch or two.

What hardware mate? I WAS going to buy today after my enjoyment in Origins. But it seems there are a lot of performance issues as well as a lot calling this a DLC for Origins.

I'm running a 8700k @4.5Ghz with a OC 1080 ti EVGA ftw edition. 1440p res.

** i7-7700 @ 4.20 - 20gig ram - 1080gtx 8gig - 416.16 drivers 3400*1440 **

I doubt you'll have a problem with your rig. If I recall, Origins was dodgy for me on release so hoping it's more a tweaking issue a patch might fix.

I'll try the benchmark ingame, see what it gives me overall...

Benchmark gives me - 35avg 11min 65max - Gfx all maxed :(

Really cannot understand the people who say its a DLC for Origins. Absolutely boggles my mind. I seriously wonder sometimes whether there has been a universal drop in common sense or something.

Even Worthabuy, a guy who detests this genre of games has said how superb the game is to play. I guess some people will just find any reason to nitpick at a title no matter how enjoyable it is.

Bizarre...benchmark gives me an avg of 51fps and my specs are worse than yours. I'm on i5-2500k (really need to update this) , 16gb ram , 8gb 1070gtx 416 drivers @1920x1080. Everything on highest settings and I have the res scaling at 120%. Given my weak cpu it must be that resolution difference making the impact I guess

2700k (overclocked) and a 1080ti (overclocked) here at 3440 (21:9)

Benchmark with volumetric clouds at medium (huge resource hog) and rest maxed I get around 58 to 60 in the benchmark as an average. Some bits fly at around 70 fps, other areas drop to mid to low 50s.

Half these settings can lop off a nice amount of performance for little visual gain. Hardware unboxed did a nice review of each setting showing % gain between each setting level and for some can be steep price to pay just to max it out, could be worth a view: https://youtu.be/chqQanHcvHk

Anyone playing at 21:9? How's the support? What about HUD locations etc?

Yes, they (HUD positions) are the same as Origins and the game fully supports ultrawide.

I'll take a look at that video and get tweaking, cheers!

@Tombstone : Yep mate the resolution is a major factor, I might try lowering the scaling 5-10%!

I’ve never played Origins so that doesn’t help!:)

My bad ! well it supports 21:9 fully, so the HUD information is correctly formatted to ultrawide ie at the edges of the screen. I'll add a screenie iab if I can workout how to include HUD.
