Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Some places are genuinely stunning. I'm in the third area and I ran across a small village next to the springs, which were themselves beautiful, and ended up strolling around for good 10 mins soaking in the details. Those pink leaves, people dancing and singing by the temple, a brook running through the village, all that surrounded by a beautiful autumnal forest and excellent lighting.

Mind-boggling that this was just a small insignificant village. I loved Egypt but this is no slouch either. More topographical variation and forests are significantly denser/better looking.

Normal mode was too easy in origins so playing hard in odyssey which is perfect for me. Use paralyse arrow to finish off the enemy then recruit them if you can’t one shot knock them out. The map is huge and you can get overwhelmed with the side quests. Took me one hour to ride into a town to hand in a quest because I discovered a fort, cave, mercenary and bandit camp along the way :p

Sado in my picked up the peguses gear. Uni gave me some helix credits after issue with quiz then my points randomly going so topped it up and picked up the set. The horse actually has wings that fold out at times including when falling off mountains and cliffs so you get no fall damage :p

I am struggling in Margaris with the first battle at Lv10. I always seem to run out of health halfway through it and end up facing tougher opponents with a sliver left to help. Any ideas how I could heal up? Haven't seen anything to assist.

Do you have any spare points? There's a skill that lets you heal up partially using built adrenaline. Get it ASAP, also the one that allows you to take away opponents' shields.

Practice your dodges and parries, the window is quite generous.

Yeah, I grabbed that healing skill when I just hit Lv11 cheers. Hopefully that'll make a difference when I do return to land and re-accept that battle.

This game is fantastic for random encounters. I was hunting down a leader, came across a merc, attacked him, get joined by three or four grunts on his side, then a bear and a boar joined in. Another merc and about six guys on horseback.

Later on I was attacking a camp at night, but messed up, jumped on my horsey and started the usual ride-by and attack. Ended up with two mercs, a lion, and about a dozen bads. I kept getting knocked of the horse and running to get on whatever horse was nearest.

Both of these battles took about fifteen minutes of trying to stay cool and keep my wits. Seems that you can't heal up while on horseback - so getting knocked off early doors was a bonus in a way. About 20 hours in and level 18 now. Origins was a real groundbreaker for me, but this is a more than worthy successor.

Just riding around is an end in itself. Must be a dozen quests I've completed just visiting places, get a quest later from someone, or from the board, and it's completed already from just exploring.

So I'm madly flirting with Odessa - this is Dragon Age/Mass Effect levels of flirtyness here and at the same time I've got a 5 star wanted level... In the background during a cutscene chat with her I can see 2x bounty hunters walking around looking at Kassandra :o

As soon as it ended, I legged it like mad!

People saying this game doesn't look great are on crack. It's gobsmacking, and I'm on a 42" 1080p TV and a GTX 970...it's must be incredible on a big 4k HDR OLED with a beefy GPU.

Level 10, and just leaving Magaris, although I've done about 2/3s of it!

Must be a huge team making these places. It isn’t just copy and paste either. Interesting content at every turn.

They delegate responsibility to different studios. Each one creating a segment of the game. That is how they can churn out games of this size in a relatively short time frame.

If this doesn't look good, then I don't know what does. Considering the scope, it's probably the most visually impressive and detailed title currently out. Origins still has incredible graphics.

There are non-sandbox games that look worse.
