Assassin's Creed Odyssey

@Kainz - 20% disc through a quiz you say ? thanks for the heads up :D ... I nearly bought it using 100 points on friday.

Yup, I almost spent 100 of my points but used the quiz instead, which is good as I think preordering earns you like 80 points or something? , so preordering almost earns enough to get 20% off another title , like say..The Division 2 :D

Have preordered the Gold edition so should be ingame sometime on Tuesday

Ah yes, good spot! /me goes to order standard edition now...

Hoping my 970 is still up to the job without turning too much stuff down.

This game is the decider....do I upgrade my GPU this year or not :P

With a bit of an overclock, I was averaging around 45-50, on a mixture of settings, mostly high. Dropped lower in busy scenes though....

Origins was pretty much fine on my 1070 at 1440p without sacrificing too much graphical fidelity. If they did a bit of optimisation, you should be fine. A 970 should manage at 1080p as well.

Not long now, for those who preordered the Gold or above edition, we can play from midnight tonight :) (if you preordered Gold+ on Uplay, its 4pm tomorrow if you preordered Gold+ on Steam)

Yeah I run at 1080p (Steam Link). I was tempted to pick it up on the PS4, but I don't think I could sacrifice the FOV, environment detail, and non-existent loading times.

Settings wise I just all the environment details up to max, then notch down shadows/AA as much as I can stand. I'd really like to nail 60 fps to stop tearing.

I played Origins, but I'll be skipping this one. I just don't get the same sense of enjoyment from Ubisoft games anymore. Probably because many of the gameplay systems are the same across all of their titles. It's a shame they're not open to trying something innovative for a change, but I can understand their reasons.

You'll have no problems with a 1070 at 1080p. I usually do the same regarding settings, environmental stuff to the max and drop some shadows and then experiment to see what has the least visual impact with big performance impact. Some of those settings in games are totally unnoticeable but eat up frames like crazy:p

EDIT: Oh, you're on a 970, it's Kainz who upgraded, my mistake:p I reckon it'll be mostly fine as well.

:p

I also run at 1080p. I could have bought the game on my PS4 Pro but since the missus hogs the TV during evenings I'd have no playtime as a result. I tend to ramp up all the details but drop shadows to normal or low, along with motion blur set to off (if option exists). AA I don't care about much so I leave it at 2x or the lowest setting too.

I've not overclocked that 1070 yet. Still marvelling at having a card that is totally silent and doesn't even go beyond 60c on load!
