ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 144hz 2560x1440 IPS G-Sync.

I would like to see some reviews comparing "PG278Q vs PG279Q" I all ready own the PG278Q but i do how ever fill that the colors are not the best for an 8bit ... But are still very good the gaming side is amazing there is no faulting that on this monitor so would like some feedback about the newer model PG279Q IPS... My BenQ 27T IMHO as better colors then the PG278Q more vibrant and brighter ,

So after a few hours it looks like this:

On the left is the PG279Q and on the right the Dell P2715Q. As you can see the Dell has a lot more IPS glow but the Asus has backlight bleeding in a few areas. I've adjusted the exposure of the camera to get an image as close as possible to what my eyes are seeing.

Hmm have you played round with monitor settings ie brightness contrast >? too see if you can fix that ,But all i can say is who plays games on a pc in the dark ... you seem to notice things more when its darker however that should not be so bad as it is there ...

What are you doing to get the black screen ? Ill do the same on my PG278Q see if its the same ?

I find that many people play games in the dark especially when playing horror games.

That doesn't look bad especially regarding IPS glow, although for £750, I personally would want no backlight bleed at all.

Set up and a few first impressions. sRGB mode is best and produces a nice image but the settings for picture like backlight etc are then locked in that mode. It does not have a grainy image on bright whites like the TN swift. ULMB at 85hz on Witcher 3 with v-sync on looked very nice. The overdrive has no overshoot on the UFO tests on the mid setting. I have no noticable backlight bleed on sRGB mode but the glow looks more dark blue and no issue from looking from the right side of the monitor but look from the left side and you get a bit of silvery glow in the top and bottom right corners but this is as per normal for IPS i guess so I knew it would do that already. It overclocks to 165hz with no issue. The overclock button is still there as per the TN swift. At 85hz ULMB mode at the full pulse width setting it still looks bright around 120cdm2 i would guess. You get a bit of ULMB ghosting as some of the image seeps into the next refresh at 85hz but it's not on all transitions. Liking it so far.

Hi, which better rog swift tn or ips? how fast ips model turn on and off? thanks

Sounds like a stupid question, any simple way to view a black screen?

Thanks for the info mate! Appreciated. Sounds like the plan then!

Yup I've never used Gsync before today but boy is the difference noticable, I was trying out Bad Company 2 Vietnam and because Nvidia has borked the drivers it runs terribly. Like 20-40FPS vs over 100 like I used to. Well as soon as you drop below the Gsync threshold its like watching a slideshow, above it and its really smooth. Sure its expensive and Adaptive Sync on Nvidia would be a cheaper universal option, Gsync is still a brilliant bit of tech.

Not sure what you mean.
The on/off button is behind the light, which changes color dependant on use eg G-Sync/ULMB/Standby
Press to switch monitor off, hold it down to switch off stand lighting.
Takes a few seconds

I mean how fast monitor start display picture when you turn it on, I just watched review of rog swift tn model is so fast on instantly.

6 months, 4 Acer Predator XB270HU's and 1 Asus ROG Swift PG279Q later...
Tested on Witcher 3, GTA V, 7 Days to Die, Watchdogs and Alien: Isolation.

Uploaded a couple of videos. I used 7 Days to Die because I had a comparison with the Acer. Concentrating on the glow/bleed issue as I have no dead pixels, dirt or creepy crawlies.
All on stock settings.

Make your own minds up but for me, the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q is a keeper

Soz about FOV but it was only to show dark scenes around the edges
