ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 144hz 2560x1440 IPS G-Sync.

My photo work is just hobby stuff really and nothing proffessional. I would like the IPS for editing and overall more accurate colors Minimal color shift for film and TV. Its main use will be gaming so I'm looking forward to it.

I know its not going to be as good as a panel dedicated to professional photos, but it will be much better for me than my current 8Q.

I put the brightness down to 25, red down to 97 and green down to 93, as TFT Reviews recommended and it changed the picture drastically.

Received my pg279q today, So far the colors and such are much nicer and the no color shift like my other TN is great.

One problem though. My screen on a black background is littered with almost green glitter, sub pixels?. Only noticeable very close but its still there. One of those stands out like a stuck pixel. I dont think its a stuck pixel as i can only see it on a black background. On a white one I cannot see it at all and the pixel looks normal.

This is what im seeing :(. No it isnt a stuck pixel, actually got a magnifying glass on it and it seems to be about 1/4 the size of a sub pixel sitting at the top of the pixel itself.

I didnt buy from OCUK (no stock), i bought from a place ive got stuff from a lot before and they have been great with returns (pre-paid dpd collect). I will return for a replacement and hopefully the new one will be all good.

If anyone has had a similar issue id be happy to know.

P.S thats not the Backlight bleed, my lighting from my pc. Actually is very nice with this monitor and hardly any at all (none in bottom right corner). Shame really :(.

Might be the cable? Do you have another to test? I had something similar with a Dual Link DVI cable when I had a Hazro, the whole screen was littered with green twinkling pixels.

They are not flickering they are solid but just like glitter as I move my head from different angles, its like something behind the screen, or problem with the glass itself. Even with the cable completely removed. I get the same effect.

Shame, I love this monitor :(. 165hz its like god damn butter. + the IPS :).

I could stand them if the one stuck out wasnt there as the others are hard to see unless close up.

Worse than my pulsing. Quality control is really bad and overclockers are ignoring all my emails about my faulty third one. Not impressed. Good luck on contacting them

I could easily live with it, looks far worse on the picture. I cant make out any of the glitter type things untill im like 2 inches away. The green stuck pixel type thing i can just make out on a completely black background. Gaming its unseen.

Booked in for free DPD collection tomorrow. They will issue me with a full refund. I didnt realise they offer pixel guarantee aswell which includes backlight check for £20. So the new monitor when I order will be fully guaranteed with no anomolies or dead pixels etc as that is a small price to pay for a check.

Using my old swift now and the color difference is well, looks so washed out. almost black and white on here. Definately will get another 279q, lets hope this time it will be a good one.

Just noticed this monitor, wow some lust worthy specs, what an age for monitors!

what's it like compared to the TN swift?

Very nice, colors are much nicer on the IPS, The TN seems a bit bland compared to the IPS version. Everything stands out more and the 165hz if you can push it, is also very nice and super smooth. 4ms vs 1ms is also un-noticeble at high refresh rates for me so thats a nice bonus.

Seems a lottery at the minute though. One i received ive had to send back due to "dust" in the monitor. Ill be ordering a pixel check/backlight bleed check aswell when i purchase it again to ensure this time everything will be fine, should have done that first really :(.

I didn't realise ocuk offer a back-light check, how much does the check cost?

I'd be much more inclined to purchase this monitor if they offered that. I bought the equivalent Acer before and sent it back.

I don't want to be playing lottery with that much cash

Same here, it costs too much money to have these issues, would much prefer to pay a extra £20 for blb, dead/stuck pixel and screen uniformity check. I only upgrade monitors every 6ish years. I'm still using my old alienware 120hz monitor I bought years ago and I'm itching to buy one of these.

Once recieved. :)

Hi,

I was told yesterday none were in stock and were not due to next year by a member of staff....... So I ordered one this morning first thing. For Saturday delivery will it come tomorrow? This will be my 4th one, will send back the pulsating one I am currently using. SO REALLY HOPING TO GET ONE THAT IS FINE. Preferable the weekend as repackaging the old one is very time consuming especially on a work day.

I can see that it's in stock with other competitors, I'm holding out till they can get some better quality control.

I'm expecting mine tomorrow as they apparently had stock since yesterday and I paid for tomorrow. Also praying for better QC. 4th time has to be lucky right?

Edit: No dispatch e-mail despite ordering at 10 30 am. Other rivals have stock and apparently overclockers had 100 last night..... Really not impressed this time around
