AVATAR: FRONTIERS OF PANDORA

It's more fun playing it now in this context given the whole discussion about it is still going, a year from now it's a solo experience as the thread will be dead etc. Plus, it's free... So why wait, makes no sense.

???? More fun because of a four page thread ok.

Makes no sense not to sell it when the poster clearly wasn't even that interested in it in the first place.
Looks like they thought that was a smart move to actually so all good.

Well I've just got my Ikran, what a cool experience that was climbing the rookery, Eetu is like those guidance NPCs that somehow seem to be ahead of you lol, rmeinded me of Witcher 3 on some quests and RE4 where the merchant just happens t be everywhere ahead of you lol.

Such a stunning visual feast all that segment was, the music playing in the background, just felt cinematic and flying the Ikran is also really intuitive, in fact the whole game control mechanics are 10/10 IMO, so slick and responsive.

I'm also now playing at 5120x2160 DLDSR, had not tried it until tonight, it's working away at 75-105fps which is about perfect using the Ultra preset. I ended up just using that now and leaving depth of field on too as it enhances many scenes for the better to improve cinematic quality I'd say.

Meet Storm :D

Also 15.7GB VRAM used at 5160x2160 by the game's process alone, 18.7GB total, if you've got memory to spare, it will certainly use it. :D

Using DLSS Performance is excellent at 4K+ resolutions as Digital Foundry have shown in recent times (it's nearly the same render res as DLSS Quality at 1440p) - Nevertheless, Performance DLSS has come a long way. Getting 75fps+ (90fps average, ~110fps peak) on a 4090 on the Ultra preset. It drops to 55fps on the Unobtanium preset though - Once a DLSS Frame Gen mod comes out, we should be seeing over 100fps at all times on a 4090 on the Unobtanium preset lol.

It;s also the first game in a long time, perhaps even all memory, where waterfalls are actually done good justice?

So for me this is now my pick for the GOTY thread, easily. The freedom to explore, the jungle ambience, the musical score, the characters in general, everything just feels great.

Game is well worth the £26 I paid

Told you so :p

Using DLSS performance with 1.78x scale here and it looks noticeably better than even DLSS ultra and quality @ 3440x1440, performance is maybe about 4-5 fps less but still 60+ fps in the intense scenes so all good.

DLDSR like DLSS has become a must have feature for me now.
