Baldur's Gate 3

I don't think so, was an option on both of the others. Think it only happened on a critical hit that killed them so wasn't just regular death.
That's not perma death ;) Anyways D&D has always had multiple ways of raising the dead so perma death/Iron man doesnt seem to me to be a good fit to the game. YMMV

Ah ok, I am relying on my memory here but I thought there were certain things like disintegration and that was that. Although I think there was a rumour about there being a way to revive dead characters, but it was very expensive. Never had to do it (or didn't find out how).

Lmao I have to reload an earlier save (possibly restart!) because
I killed Gale, and then sold the bag you get from him which you need to resurrect him. Game over after a couple of days if he's dead.

Will also disable karmic dice am happy to accept the rolls as they come.

Edit - not a restart but had to go back a bit I think!

There are other ways to ressurect, you don't need Gale. You will find Scrolls of Revivify throughout the game, you can use these to revive.

The other way is to
find the Hooded Figure in the Overgrown Ruins near the start of the game. After speaking to him and some time has passed, he will relocate to your camp where he can revive any fallen member of your party for 200g.

I've been playing on steam deck and it's pretty good so far. Had to turn stuff way down. Mix of low and medium setting with fsr ultra quality. And locked fps to 30. But its rock solid 30 and a little less hot and battery hungry than it was at suggested settings. And I needed to go in and force proton 8.0-3 to get it working.

I do find myself leaning into the screen any time I need to read something or pick out finer details. But very much a fun and playable experience. Enjoying it so far :)

Anyone found a solution to the problem of the characters speech volume being to low? All the other sound levels are fine, just when the characters speak the volume is lower than say the narrator, its worse if the camera is away from my character.

Been looking forward to this one for a long time! Took 10 hours to download on my rubbish internet. Frustrating as the streets just had fibre installed but no go live date as yet! Will be firing up shortly. I may dispense with tradition and go with a different class from barbarian smashing things up.

Yeah I had to move, I got fed up downloading at 300K now i'm averaging 45mb makes a world of difference :)

game of the year ?

Was debating this with a friend in terms of the actual award, can't think what else would be nominated outside of Zelda TOTK and Starfield.
There is now a bet riding on it so I'm kind of hoping it isn't BG3 lol.

Nice, how does it play on older hardware ? you have a 1080 ? ive a 2080 super

Don't follow benchmarks and frame rates so I can't give you numbers. The game felt smooth till I came to my first busy area then I had to turn it down from ultra to high to make it feel smoother. No problem with it though I'm happy.

game of the year ?
Hard to say at this point as its been less than 24 hours, caveat to that is that at the start of this year my prediction was that my GOTY would be Baldurs Gate 3, the only real opposition I could foresee for it was Starfield. At the moment BG3 is looking good to indeed be my GOTY, but as I say, its very VERY early to judge.

If you kill Gale and don't resurrect him for 2 days, he wipes out your whole party and you have to reload a save, so it seems it's a ticking time bomb that you can't leave dead.

How do you finish so many games? I swear every new release you pop up :D Bet you haven't touched Age of Wonders since Diablo 4.
