You can block access to ladders by placing a barrel at their foot.
- A lot of ladders can be destroyed, allowing you to climb up somewhere and then stop enemies from following you.

That's more useful for trapping enemies on a roof/platform. If you've already climbed up the ladder, unless you have Telekinetic or something other way to move them, it can be hard to get close enough to move a barrel to block others from following. In that situation it's much easier to break the ladder. You can block access to ladders by placing a barrel at their foot.

I'm gnome bard (college of swords), thinking of multiclassing with Warlock into a BardlockI'm absolutely loving this game. I decided on a Bard (College of Lore) though I may change that to the College of Swords later on. How are you guys rolling?
So it seems I can't recruit 'Karlach' because of my earlier actions. Anyway to resolve it or will I need to load a much earlier save?

Yup, Gale is a human and all humans get light armour proficiency and as per D&D5e rules you can cast spells in armour if you have the proficiency. So yuppers, you can armour him upIf I've just read the tool tip right Gale can wear light armour and still cast spells. So all that lovely light armour I've sold could have been used. Slightly confused AD&D player here ...
