Baldur's Gate 3

Of all the things I'm bored with in this game I cannot say the colour of a dice I roll is one of them,.but it's cool to have the option I guess.

Game is getting buggier for me on each update. Just started the first battle with the goblins and the battle UI didn't come up so I can't actually do anything, and it says press space to skip as if I were watching the cutscene.
Very weird, I've actually had hardly any bugs, though I did have to change from Vulkan to DX11 after the last patch as I started crashing after the last patch on Vulkan, but bug wise, not really had any significant ones that I can remember

Had the no UI in combat thing once, was fixed by f5 to quicksave and f8 to quickload.

Not really had bugs/issues either, janky camera aside it's been relatively good, especially compared to some PC releases I've played with bugs galore.

I google each one and sure enough there are recent threads on reddit about it, seemingly some have only occurred after hotfix. I played on tactician hoping for a more interesting combat experience but seems battles just drag on because of *miss* *miss* *miss* *critical miss*.
I was glad it was turn based before I played but at this point I am not so sure. I was really enthusiastic when I started it but the lack of interesting companions and tedious combat is probably going to stop me ever finishing act 1. Might be one I'll revisit.

I watched Cohh playing it on Tactician and I couldnt see any real advantage to playing on it, our 4 player group is playing it on the normal level instead, even though the game (like all D&D) truly shines the most when playing with others, tactician just makes things harder for the sake of being harder, doesnt affect the story, which is what this game is all about, the story and the roleplay

I absolutely loved BGII and there is no way that playing with others will have made it better, I feel that way about most games though to be fair. I want to do things at my own pace and not worry about having to do things to keep others happy.
I decided to play on that setting due to complaints about how easy the game is on anything below. I could try a different character on a lower difficulty I guess and see if that helps that element at least.

Two annoying bugs for me, objects that are next to you but are "out of reach" and sometimes bonuses don't get applied to rolls.

Depends on the others you play it with, when you have 4 close friends with whom you've gamed for decades and done tons of pen and paper RPGing with and all heavily into roleplay, its utterly awesome :D

Not sure if this is really my sorta game so was thinking of getting Buldur's Gate 1 & 2 (since they're on offer). Has anyone played them? How do they hold up today? Would they be a good way to judge if I'd like 3 or has it changed quite a bit?

They're good games in thier own right, but are also going on 25 years old and show their age in a bunch of ways. So can be very slow and very frustrating.

And truth is they have very little in common with BG3, different characters, different combat system, even down to the version of dungeons and dragons which has changed substantially in that time.
So I'd say they're worth playing for themselves, but not really going to tell you all that much about BG3. And might even put you off if you get too frustrated

I’m loving some of the little details interactions and areas you find when you explore. Found a place that I would have missed had I opted to just head straight for the objective. Instead I ended up in a “what’s down this track” moment and found an Inn with a very strange innkeeper. No spoilers there because saying there’s an Inn in an RPG is like saying Call of Duty has guns. Easily one of the most memorable interactions I have had in any game.
In what location is this inn, is it in Act 1?

Seems good so far, proper nerdy though. Throwing saves, 1d+4, dice rolls...Whhaaat. Anyway, went with tactician because Divinity just got so easy toward the end and I couldn't even be bothered to do Act 4.

Just got to the grove after exploring the ancient crypt on the beach.

Fair enough. Neither myself nor any of my friends were in to that.

Also how does it work,.only one person can decide dialogue options? So you all have to play the same path regardless if you agree with something or not.
