Baldur's Gate 3

Combat also has another level of depth when you bring in other elements. Getting enemies wet (spells, throwing buckets etc.), standing on boxes for height or getting to ledges.
Used a bottle of grease to slow the enemies approach so I could loose more arrows at them. Killed one with a fireblast and the burning corpse set the grease on fire. AWESOME!!!!

IIRC somebody wanted ways to hide parts of the UI: Over on Nexus you can d/l Aether's Contextual Action Bar and other mods in the series to do just that.

PS
Am I allowed to link to nexus?

Sounds like I've done something wrong only having gale as a companion should I start again from scratch?
Not if you are at the start (around the Nautiloid ship), there are 3 companions located very near the start point and more become available through out the rest of the game (depending on your previous actions).

There is a possibility that if a particular route is taken, you could end up missing everyone from your first go and reach the refectory area. Ultra remote chance, but not impossible. @rumple9 should try and grab a lotto ticket. :)

Do you relaly need to get into the Adamantne forge in Grymforge? That whole zone is doing my nut in , trying to navigate around it. I'm on the verge of ending act 1 now after 35 hours :) just wondering if you can come back to act 1 areas later?

At various points in your story you lose access to some places. Trying to be non specific.

you can make obtain some nice loot if you get there plus once there its got a fast travel point.

Shadowheart's Spirit Guardians spell with Karlach backing her up devastates pretty much everything so far (I'm at the end of Act 2). My ranger and Gale can then pick off the stragglers from distance.

Looking forward to playing through on Tactician mode for more of a challenge :D

I just found a spell in my book called "non lethal blows" you can toggle this and you wont kill stuff.... odd this isn't made more obvious, maybe I missed it?

I found the passives tab when I had to goggle on how to turn off the knockback on my 'locks eldritch blast. Its just hiding in plain site.
Later I found the light from a magic weapon I had was controlled from there.

You only need one character to actually get into the area as there is a fast travel point right at the start of the area. I used my rogue with misty step to get past the lava and jump to the start of the forge area, then used the fast travel to get the rest of the team to him).

Really loving this game, certainly GOTY for me. So far I've put in 80 hours and haven't completed it yet - because I keep going back and creating new characters and playing them to try different classes! I'm in act three - lower city with my main though so will likely complete the campaign this week.

For those just starting out, I have a few tips to make getting started easier, if that would help?

I just threw a water bottle at a flame launcher device and it rendered it useless. Just these little touches and different ways that make you think outside the box.

It does have some issues with camera angles and quite a few lock ups in act 3 but really do see GOTY material here.
