Baldur's Gate 3

Saw some temple down below. Tried every other which way to get down there but nothing works, must be part of a quest but nobody says jack. "Oh nice view" :D. Found the laughing amulet though.

Apparently it's just an unfinished part of the game, but you do reach the temple another way as part of the SHAR story line...

That's all i'm saying :D

Patch 2 is now out.

Hello everyone,

Patch #2 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is now live, bringing bug fixes, substantial performance improvements and much more! If you missed our latest Community Update, we highly recommend you give it a read here for a glimpse at the future of Baldur’s Gate 3, and the role your feedback is playing in that.

Still here? Great! Withers has heard tales of Tavs, having requested the presence of their friends for an afternoon of adventuring, wanting to return to the lifestyle of a solo adventurer without their friends in tow. Therefore, he has come up with a solution. Introducing Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends! With this woodworked wonder, you can now dismiss co-op party members and bring your companions back into the fold. Withers’ solution only extends to custom Tavs, however - so no throwing Gale into a cupboard (although we’re sure it’s comfy in there).

As well as plenty of performance improvements and UI tweaks, we've added a new epilogue scene for Karlach, and are working on additional endgame scenes featuring other characters. Additional Karlach moments have also been added in Acts 1 and 2, allowing her to better reflect on her infernal engine and the options available to her.

We’ve prepared the highlights of Patch 2 below, followed by the main meat of the update. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, and for your continued support If you have any issues with Baldur’s Gate 3, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.

If you're disappointed with the current state of this frankly amazing game then I don't think a year is going to improve its standing in your view.

Anyway, as I was about to start Act 3 I overheard Shadowheart mention it was a shame that the party hadn't completed [quest] which I'd totally forgotten about so went back to do it. There is a lot of chatter going on and a surprising amount of it is useful. Loving the game for the depth it has :)

Well that's disappointing, guess we really are waiting a year to have the complete experience.
What is disappointing exactly? Why is it that a lot of people think that every idea, gameplay feature, story arc HAS to make it into the final game.

Are people lacking common sense here or am I missing something?

Just like movies, TV shows, songs, books etc some things will be left out for various reasons, Time constraints, money, etc
Some companies do this with the intention to sell DLC, addons etc so its fair to say they should be called out for it but I don't think this applies ro Larian.

If you watch a movie and see some deleted scenes at a later point, you don't suddenly feel cheated to not have gotten the "full experience" but this seems to be coming up more and more when it comes to games.

Larian has done a great job with this game, and with 2 huge patches released so quickly it really puts most other companies to shame. I really hope we get some DLC in the future considering the success but I guess people will start crying as it's not part of the base game and they feel betrayed or some crap.

Just started a new character on tactician this time around. I think I'll try a multiclass too as I went straight set characters last playthrough. I've gone from a Sorcerer to a Monk and I plan to dip into Rogue for skills and Thief. Will see how it goes.

Not played since patch 2 dropped but Monks were quite broken damage wise before. One of the guys in my coop game plays a Dex one and still can do a huge amount of damage vs anyone else. I've heard if you go into Str builds it can truly be insane.

What's the point of gold in this game? I've not bought a single item yet and only found 2 merchants so far and they have ran out money buying my stuff. I have loads of stuff in my inventory still and 4k gold. Admittedly I an only in act 1.

There is some nice bits I found in act 2 and 3 on vendors to buy. Of course I just usually pickpocket the vendor.

The gold and items and vendors does reset. Also on later act, some points as part of quests can pay just a hearty amount to progress through gold
But yeah on the whole, gold is pretty easy.

Buy then end of my first playthrough I had around 30 - 40K. Wasn't much I needed to buy.

Gold is pretty easy to come by, there are quite a few merchants, you can often trade with random NPCs as they have the trade icon in the corner (even if they dont have a dialogue option to trade), but yeah I always had more gold than I needed.

I mainly used barter for buying healing potions and scrolls and some alchemy mats. Trade was used to get rid of the rest of the loot. Often when I found a new trader they would haveone or two decent items that might be an upgrade for a class. But yeah gold isnt of much use once your past the beginning.

Or buying the quest reward item from the quest giver ... or so I've read

Multiple quests left unfinished or had no conclusion, that's what I'm talking about. You can cut content and still present a satisfying story based product.

edit: Have you reached act 3 and did you do all the quests or did you only play main story and skip dialogue? It's very immersion breaking.

I've bought tons of items. Scrolls to get new spells, armour, weapons, some colour dyes as well etc. I've seen loads of good upgrades from merchants.

I mark all the junk and things to sell as wares, then toggle the merchent and click the Sell all Wares button. Then toggle back and buy things.

Almost cleared the cave place out in Act 1. Probably been down here for 25 hours alone.

I can't manipulate the liquids on the floor yet. Feel like I need a wizard as I have two fighters, a cleric and a rogue. But can't be doing with these blokes in my party they're all bent af!

Although kinda really like Asteron now as he's become a master thief and can open anything. Almost gave up on pickpocketing as it's just a pain, but using invis and TB helps loads.

Finding difficulty on tactician is fair. Hit chances are woe in most cases, and often need a buff or debuff of some sort in hope of landing a hit. Lots of praise for the game so far. I love the effort they've made with the facial expressions.

From not being sure about this I am now about 50 hours in and nearing the tower, wont say anymore :), I do find there's a lot of things I still don't understand or feel like getting very involved in such as buffs and a lot of the characters stats etc. I often get overwhelmed in battles so just lower the difficulty and play through those bits. Still probably the one of the best games in a long time, and can see it being replayed again once I complete it
