Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

IIRC When City came out it ran like pants in DX11 and the recommendation at the time was to solely use DX9 which was 60fps plus.

What worries me though, is that big AAA titles will stop coming out on PC because the return just isn't there for the amount of investment needed to make a good solid bug free game on release.

GTAV runs well apparently (not got it myself) but the length of time between the console release and the PC version suggests that less folk working on it means we are just gonna have to wait longer for a bug free day 1 release.

I remember when Crysis came out back in the day, it didn't run on max settings even on top end cards. I don't get how back then, it was the hardware, but now, it's the lazy devs.

The PC version of GTA V was not a port though, it was built as a PC game alongside the console versions and had been in development for some years too.

Arkham Knight for PC was ported to PC in months going by recent news. Lols.

How does forcing high (ultra?) textures help the game look?
I tried it last night but the medium textures were offensive.

Got 85fps bench with normal textures, no GW. 45fps with all 4 on. I haven't actually started a playthrough until it looks and performs right so I assume the fps lock is only in-game?

Are you saying the Unreal 3 engine is more demanding and graphically superior to the CryEngine 1/2/3?

Remember on it's debut Unreal 3 ran at 60fps on an AMD 3870 with 512Mb.
Even with the engine modified I can't get 60 fps at 1440p with my system in Arkham Knight. It's surely down to how graphically amazing, and demanding the engine is.

Whole game's now been pulled from sale. Wow. Is this the first time this has happened with a AAA title? The new Steam refund policy must be hurting their wallets to make them do this.

From what I understand, Steam will allow the refund but they still keep their cut so WB would be losing the sale and then Steam's sales cut with this.

As you said, must be large enough figures for them to pull this. Wonder if they will fix this up, make sure its a decent build and with the features and release it down the line.

Not sure why they would release this in this state, its working for some but not others, they should have went with the GTA model of consoles first and then just work on the PC version until it is ready.

With Windows 10 and the new dev kits AAA games from consoles should be easier to convert. Having a hand full of devs and a really tight schedule though is always going to be a fail waiting to happen.

There's no reason why such shoddy workmanship should ever be defended though. I expect obscure bugs on release but I don't expect crippling issues on day one. That's the level they need to get to.

With regards to that time scale point, the rumours are true?

Not sure where I read it or heard this, but I had heard the PC team had a few months to get this done and dusted, so I assume they ran out of time and it was pushed out anyway?

Release game early unfinished and this is what happens. Delay a game until it is ready and still get backlash (GTA V), it's almost a lose lose situation.

On the Steam Database you can see Iron Galaxy only got access and started uploading Dev builds 2 months ago.

What backlash did GTA 5 get? I remember it being an amazing port, with over a million of sales on the first day.
