Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Well I went to see it tonight and I didn't have any high expectations at all from seeing how awful MoS was. I Have to be honest, I thought it was bloody good and enjoyed it oO - Three things that jump out still though,

I'm just not a fan of the directors punch, grab, punch grab CGI rubbish, you see this more in MoS though, but it is still there, they've toned it down. Lex. hmmm... Not a fan at all of the actor, at times it was very, very cringe worthy. Doomsday.. That was ok up until the point when it just got CGI heavy and took away from the film a bit.

Other than that, a massive improvement on the god awful MoS.

PS. Ben Affleck stole the film, he's the best Batman to date no question.

PSS. Get rid of the director and give Snyder another go with a decent script.

Zack Snyder has gone. He's been replaced by George Miller for Justice league.

You know when your watching a film and start nodding off for 10min then waking up for a minute then back off again.

Well that's what I felt like I must have been doing in this film as everything was all over the place.

Dunno if I enjoyed it to be honest. Least it has proved something I have said all my life though, that $÷π¢€^÷ would beat £))@&%£; in a fight.

I'm terrible for falling asleep in movies. Done it for so many now that I don't go to late shows as a rule any more.

I think I would have preferred a Standalone WW movie and maybe even a standalone Batman Movie (but not a full on origin movie. Do that **** in the credits or something) then this movie. It felt too 'full' and a lot of it had no context.

Recenetly watched it and all i can think is Snyder needs to go, he's obsessed with showing how powerful Superman is ALL THE TIME! Is there an actual planet left as i swear every time he hits or gets hit a building falls over...absolute no grace or restraint at all.

I know that is how it can sometimes appear in the comics but I didn't get that in the movie since Superman dies and is nearly killed by a man?
As said before he can be killed by either kryptonite and magic. By way of comparison, were it the Hulk you'd get the Eastern seaboard cracked in half when he stamps his foot down in a rage with no weakness to anything. This was when he went World breaker. It's worth noting there may also be a Lobo v Superman if Lobo's forthcoming film is a success. (this would likely include as much destruction as both are capable) with the former, "hell bent on it".

After seeing this at the weekend I was left feeling that they missed the mark by a huge margin. I don't rate Henry Cavill as Superman, he's too short for starters..

Boring for the most part with all the good bits from the trailer happening in the last 20 minutes.

No chance they'll replace Snyder unless they think he will end harming their money making from these films. As long as they continue to rake in the money, they don't give a **** if his films get panned.

I can't decided whether Snyder is the problem, or only half of it. The writing sucks as well, but Goyer has done some good work in the past, so is clearly capable.

Not really sure who would have been a better alternative to Snyder. For those who would like to see the back of him; any thoughts on a better choice of director?

I think Synder as just a director is fine, my problem is Synder with larger creative control and what appears to be an idea that classic versions of these characters don't work and that he has to fix them ( try listening to his last appearance on the Empire podcast, it's very illuminating on why this thing is filled with questionable choices; he believes you couldn't have a credible meeting between Batman and Superman in costume hence why besides the 20 second Batmobile confrontation you don't see them together in costume until the end.). By all means leave him as director, but going forward he can't stay as the creative centre of this universe, now I read somewhere recently that Geoff Johns and a couple of others are now helping with that but imo a committee can't work for such things, you'll just end up with compromises that don't help anything.

DC needs a single voice to control such things ala Kevin Feige. DC needs a man with a long history of knowing the characters and writing them. They need Paul Dini.

I half jokingly said Bryan Singer and tbh hes a higher calibre of director than Snyder (who lets face it is a another Michael Bay type) and probably far more capable of crafting a better universe. I love a lot of his (earlier) films, but he is currently tied up with X-Men...

While Superman Returns isnt at all a great film, I wouldnt say any Superman film is - hes far too one dimensional and I doubt the American psyche would accept a non-perfect Superman...

I dont see how Snyders proven himself beyond box office receipts (and the marketing budgets really helped there more than his name on the film). Is anyone excited for his next DC film?

EDIT: As Jonny2284 said as a director he might be acceptable, as the creative guiding light not a chance...

ps3ud0

Credibility in a superhero movie is kind of an odd way to look at things. The amount of conveniences alone such as Kryptonite being sold in every Grocery store chucks that out the window. Or to quote Kevin Smith, "its all just made up ********". :p

Oh I agree, I'm trying to think where credibility comes into a story of an alien who gains powers under certained coloured suns having a confrontation with a near psychotic billionaire vigilante who are briefly joined by what appears to be a 100 year old Woman with a sword and shield to fight an abomination created by Mark Zuckerberg.

Yup, they try to make some things seem credible but when you look at the overall picture, really anything goes.
