Can someone test and determine if 1:1 issue has been fixed during the (long!) delay :D

it wont have been. I'm waiting for confirmation as to whether the rumour is even true, but it won't be featured in this first stock certainly

Even if there was an issue with 1:1 pixel mapping, is it somthing that could be sorted with a firmware upgrade? Not to much to worry about if that's the case

I wouldn't have thought so UNLESS the hardware is there to do the scaling and previously BenQ had just chosen to not enable it I suppose.

One of the monitor experts round these parts might know better though, I could be talking twaddle ;)

Got this reply from BenQ today after querying the 1:1 pixel mapping on both the standard and the Z version, and if I bought the standard version how would they do the 1:1 fix when it was available, etc. I also mentioned how can they advertise "perfect for distortion free images"!

"Dear Customer

Thank you for your interest in BenQ monitors.

I would like to confirm that the FP241WZ that will be launched in
December will also not Have one to one pixel mapping.

However, to the naked eye it is not possible to see any distortion.

Best Regards

BenQ Sales"

The naked eye of whom...Stevie Wonder? I beg to differ!

I don't really get why people see lack of 1:1 as an issue.

What exactly are you people wanting to display on screen using less than the full size available?

You're buying a 24 inch widescreen monitor .. and yet you want to use less than that to display something else. Why not save money and go for 20 or 17 inch where a smaller resolution will make use of your screen space?

Something like a 640x480, tv, non HD console output will use a tiny portion of the screen at 1:1, sure its stretched to fill the full 24 inches without 1:1 but how is playing on a postage stamp a better solution? Of course the lower resolutions look crap, that is why they're lower.

And lastly, with blacks never truly being black on LCD surely 1:1 becomes even less attractive as anything but filling the whole screen is leaving glowing black bars around your used screen space. I could almost see this not being an issue on CRT.

What am I missing lads? so confused lol.

tbh if the aspect ratio was kept the same as the source then it wouldnt really be a problem, the issue is that the screen stretches everything to 16:10 so 4:3 and 16:9 images get distorted, which defeats the object for multimedia use of having a screen that can except a 1080 hd image if it cant display it properly.

nice to see that now they are in stock the price has taken a hefty increase

I hate getting the shaft in the UK on prices...

Its on bloody everything.

Can someone explain why we are not getting dollar * exchange rate on items.

The price of the PS3 is japan and US is a lot lower for instance.

the rrp of the fp241w inc vat is £560.40 ($899=£476.93 ex vat) it is a very sad day for british retailers if someone can personally import a large bulky item like a widescreen tft by airmail and pay full vat to customs etc and still be well below UK price.

Just recieved the monitor and I must say that i'm impressed with the increase in image quality compared to my Samsung 930BF(TN panel)

I recieved the original version with the silver bezel and the cooler looking stand(not the one advertised on the website)

I was really wanting the black one but I suppose I will get used to it.

For games, I've just ran NFS Carbon at 1600x1200(highest it will allow) and the image quality seems fine to me.

Still to test movies.

No visible banding, no dead pixels etc...

Just tried a few divx videos with windows media player and the image doesn't get stretched, The proper aspect ratio is kept.

It does seem strange that I cant find the BenQ in stock elsewhere, other retailers are saying another week, Maybe OC get there stock before the others so they can hike up the price for those who cant wait?.

Just noticed the Jump in price :(

I ordered mine when it was £650 and it arrived today great screen except the DVI on mine will not accept a signal so it is going back to BenQ as DOA.

I was going to go back to OCUK but all they can do is offer me a refund and then I can buy it at the new price (no thanks)

I can still use it for everything else (except my PC unless I go in via D-sub)

BenQ have been real nice about the swapout though and have confirmed that I am the 1st in europe with a fault and that they will pixel check the screen before it is sent to me.

I will still use the screen via D-sub for now but I am just a little gutted about the situation

Its the silver version, I would be gutted but DOA is a fact of life sometimes everything goes well and other times stuff happens.

if i had waited that long for my screen and it arrived DOA i would be foaming at the mouth.
