Benq FP241W (Now available from OcUK!!!!!)

Hi there,

If anyone is interested, tomshardware.fr published the review of both BenQ FP241W and FP241WZ monitor versions. You may use your preferable means and tools to translate those pages. ;) I know, it's non-English and online translators are usually painfull experience ... but I'm sure that some of you are inpatient to hear more opinions about the pretty-much-talked-about BenQ series :)

 Wow, i installed this monitor last night, besides being baffeled by the size of a 24" monitor, the BenQ is truely great in every aspect.

Every single one of its 2304000 pixels are perfect, and they can shine like the light of day if you want them to. The screen is very very sharp, compared with my replaced 20.1" HP LP2065.

Colour balancing is great too, i had a sumsung 19" for about 2 weeks, when I decided that its false colours wernt for me (or anyone infact). I used a colour calibrator on the BenQ 24" screen, besides a general tweak here and there, the colours were very accurate already.

Scaling seems to be far better than the 4:3 Hp monitor too, it doesnt have any of the raspy effects on non native resolutions.

The screen is semi-gloss compaired to the usual flat-matt, which is really great too. Good balance.

The stand is sleek too, and doesnt gobble up too much desk space. Very Sturdy. Only thing a bit different is getting used to the buttons on the side. But u get used to them. ;)

If you can swallow the price of this monitor (its worth every penny) this is one fantastic VDU :D

Thanks for those comments dude, certainly aiding me in my quest for a larger monitor. On using yours, would you say it is large enough to play a 360 around 1.5 - 2 metres away? Im looking for a screen that looks nice with the 360 at that distance, but i also badly need to replace my ageing 17" LG for more desktop space. The Benq might be the ideal choice...

WesleyBurns, I get my screen tomorrow and would like the know what colour tool you used to calibrator you're monitor.

Cheers

I can say that, me sitting in front of my desk about 0.5 meter away from the screen, i have to turn eyes :p , if not head sometimes to see from corner to corner when you are using as a desktop VDU. I may have to push it back more.

While i dont use it to play console games , I use it to play PC games e.g BF2142 and NFSC, and it paired with my 8800GTX go together like bonny and clyde. Still having to glance over sometimes to see the scene :) So i think it would easy suit playing 1 - 2 meters back. 2 meters is fine on a console as they use gamepads, so it isnt like using a mouse.

I did a dvd test last night, and i stood around 2.5-3 meters back, and can easy use this as a movie screen.

Great experience going big. :)

I got the Spyder 2 Express the same day, i had my doubts about the effectiveness, but its very useful to calibrate my new screen and even my laptop :D works a treat, and its well priced. A good keeper. Have a look around for it. ;)

Dont forget to leave the adaptor plate on with the green filter unlike i did the first time :)

cheers for that dude, do you think an ATi 1900xt, a 3700 amd (@ 2.65ghz) and 2gb DDR500 would run games like oblivion, cs:s, fear, bf2 etc at decent settings in such a res?

So far im running my games in 1600x1200, and not even the native 1920x1200 yet.

If your GPU can handle 1280X800 or more then I think one can get use out of the monitor (for desktop work its indispensable at 1920x1200)

You can always upgrade the system later. As i said above, this monitor does a good job of scaling.

Hi, can someone please confirm which stand the monitor is ccoming with. Also is it Black or Silver & Black which people are getting?

Cheers for the info wesley dude, think im gonna go for this one, was tempted by the dell, but with the news of this gettings 1:1 pixel mapping, this seems the winn0r. If the monitor is good at scaling ill probably run me games at a lower 16:10 res to preseve the frame rates and maybe upgrade to a crossfire setup some time in the future :D

omg its silver, the image on ocuk website is allllllllll black, its now 06:49 in the morning, iv been to bed and cant sleep/wait for my screen coming this morning, feels like crimbo, but if its silver like in them pictures im going to be one ticked of guy.
