if i had waited that long for my screen and it arrived DOA i would be foaming at the mouth.

I could call OCUK or Benq and scream and rant but that just won't get anything done.

I'm a laid back kinda guy so to me whats a few more days ;)

officially the FP241W is receiving a firmware update very soon to address the 1:1 pixel mapping issue. Details here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news.htm quoted here for you:

As we reported a few days ago, there has recently been word across the internet that there would be a firmware update for the FP241W to fix the main gripe everyone seemed to have with the screen, the lack of aspect ratio options and 1:1 pixel mapping. We can confirm that UK management at BenQ have confirmed that this WILL be happening, and while there is limited detail at this time, BenQ have stated that the "24W series will have new firmware to phase in new functions, such as display mode//Windows Vista-DDC/CI". This confirmation only came on Friday, and more details will follow soon. This upgrade will not be possible by the user directly, and I would imagine screens would need to be sent to service centres for the update to be applied. New stock after a certain point (expected December) will have this updated firmware in place.

Hopefully this is definitely true about the new firmware updated versions that will address the 1:1 pixel mapping issue :p

If this this is true then "Benq FP241W" and there newer versions will sell like hot cakes here in the UK :D

Hi , can firmware be changed by the end user ?

from above: "This upgrade will not be possible by the user directly, and I would imagine screens would need to be sent to service centres for the update to be applied."

whats the crack with the pricing, iv only just looked at the BenQ after having my mind set of the Dell 2407 for months has it can be picked up for only £500.

I read in this thread that the screen was £650 on its relese date and now its
£728.49 inc VAT WTF? any idea on how the price'ing is going on?

Cheers

p.s Dell for £500 or BenQ for £730..hmmm (maybe because i cant find this screen in stock ANYWHERE at all)

Have BenQ said yet how they plan (if at all) to rectify the problem on existing monitors?

They will probably say it is not a fault and the new firmware/revision just adds extra features and therefore existing owners are stuck with it.

I would like to buy a 24" that has all functions working correctly in every way, and can afford and am willing to pay £700 if it gets me this, but while the Dell is £500 and I need a monitor before Xmas, it seems my hands are tied at the moment.

Hi just wondered why no one has posted a review on this moniter as been on sale here since last week as want to know what a 360 runs like on it?

Hi M8 I have this screen which I got from OCUK last week.

I cant give an honest opinion of it for PC use as all the digital inputs are screwed (no signal detected on DVI/HDMI) but the 360 looks fantastic over VGA @1080p and the colours which are normally quite dull over VGA are back to the level they were at with the componant cable but with the added sharpness that comes with using the VGA cable.

I don't really notice the lack of 1:1 during console gaming and I cannot run a dvd on the screen as my samsung player will only upscale over HDMI ( I would run them in the 360 but I only have US dvds) obviously I hope BenQ sort out a replacment for the screen soon so that I can do a proper test.

overall It is a fantastic screen for console use and I was still impressed going in via D-sub for the PC use but I feel DVI would add a little more for the PC side.

Sorry to sound thick but when the 360 is hooked up do u have borders around screen because of this 1.1 issuse as want this monitor for 360 and pc gaming but dont want borders when 360 hooked up. Was going to get samsung 26" hdtv but was worried what pc would look like on it so bit unsure thanks anyway.

I got my monitor on Saturday (excellent service from OCUK),
Ive been playing Gears over the weekend, the quality is excellent)

A few points though.

Running VGA from XBOX360, selecting 1080, the monitor tells you that
its not a native resolution. (which it isnt).

Also sometimes part of the output, goes off screen (not sure if that makes sense).(not whilst playing games), but if you switch between inputs.

Also, another thing, if your watching TV (via S-Video) and have PC (PIP) via DVI-D, and you reboot the PC, the whole screen goes black... and I have to switch off the screen and switch it back on. (so I switch off PIP if im rebooting PC).

Apart from that.... Ive found the screen to be EXCELLENT quality.
(FYI, it also fits nicly onto a Acco Flat Panel Monitor Arm.)
