Benq FP241W (Now available from OcUK!!!!!)

Well, the one on the OCUK website looks ugly compared to the actual monitor. :D

Its the only model they have, so far. Black - JUST the bezel is silver.

Elite, once you set this baby up, you wont care :)

Elite-

your FP241W will have a silver bezel, the photo shown looks like an FP202W, which is the only black bezel we sell in the UK, the FP202W doesn't have height adjust, it's a normal stand.

out of interest, TOC requirement (used) to be strict on bezel colour, and is still advised in TCO03 & 06. FP241W is one of the first monitors with TCO06.

Colour of the frame
Think about the appearance of the room where the display is to stand. Choose a display with a frame which has a neutral colour compared with the lighting conditions in the display’s surroundings. This means that the frame surrounding the display must not be too dark or light compared with the wall behind the display.

If the frame surrounding the display seems too dark or too light, a problem with contrast is created which is extremely tiring for the eyes.

...and will it have the new 1:1 firmware as standard?

they are expecting to stock it afaik, but it is a couple of months behind the standard version. Early stock might be without the new firmware, depends on whether UK stock is sent after it's been introduced. will have to wait and see

heheeh got my screen at last, and god damn it silver fs, why put a black on the title of the product on ocuk website if its silver, also the picture is fully black and so is the benq website image.

anyways ocuk is lucky as i loveeeeeeeee the screen lol its a lot better for gaming then my dell 2405 and runs as smooth in games as my viewsonic 2ms did.

all in all im a happy guy :)

From TFT central

Update (19/11/06): there has recently been word across the internet that there would be a firmware update for the FP241W to fix the main gripe everyone seemed to have with the screen, the lack of aspect ratio options and 1:1 pixel mapping. We can confirm that UK management at BenQ have confirmed that this WILL be happening, and while there is limited detail at this time, BenQ have stated that the "24W series will have new firmware to phase in new functions, such as display mode//Windows Vista-DDC/CI". This confirmation only came on Friday, and more details will follow soon. This upgrade will not be possible by the user directly, and I would imagine screens would need to be sent to service centres for the update to be applied. New stock after a certain point (expected December) will have this updated firmware in place.

Will wait till early New Year then, :)

Probs with my FP241W

Hi,

I got my monitor from OCUK about a week ago. Everything fine, until I try to connect it up with a DVI connector. Check this out!

2 x 1950XTX in Crossfire.

DSub with DSub adapter into Crossfire cable - works fine
DVI into Crossfire cable - 2D works fine, 3D the screen dispays the image for 1 sec, then goes blank for 10 secs and then loops like that.

I've tried games and DX9 Real-Time High-Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting Demo 1.2.

Nowm, if I ditch the crossfire and plug the monitor directly into one card it works fine in 3D too!

Refresh is set yo 60Hz

Does anyone know whats going on?

Thanks
Simon

the rrp of the fp241w inc vat is £560.40 ($899=£476.93 ex vat) it is a very sad day for british retailers if someone can personally import a large bulky item like a widescreen tft by airmail and pay full vat to customs etc and still be well below UK price.

Ya, how can OCUk who claim to almost always have the best pricing around be charging sooo much for this screen when it should have been £650~

Sometimes they really do take the biscuit

See this has gone outta stock again. That mean the 1.1 revision is comming?

maybe your correct.. Other online stores that was due to receive stock this week are now saying 3-4 weeks, Is this to upgrade to 1:1 before they get them in? Also OCUK is saying pre-order and not "out of stock".

Hoping the Z model will get the 1:1 before launch...
its due out on the 5-7th Dec.

Go talk to Tony Blair if you have a problem...tax tax and more tax.

Just waiting for the 1:1 really before placing an order.... I'm just kinda praying they don't keep pushing back the eta like they did with the original launch.
