Benq FP241W (Now available from OcUK!!!!!)

Audioboxer I think you need to edit your post before a mod puts you on a holiday for mentioning a competitor.

I myself am deciding whether to wait for the 1:1 revised Benq or go with the Dell, just can't decide...
 
I bought a dell 2407 because i couldnt wait any longer :p

Unfortunately everyone seems to be waiting as there really doesnt seem to be any decent reviews coming out on the benq in its current form. Personally if i were you i would wait. Im selling the dell when something better comes along, and im hoping that the benq is it.

Just made a quick e-mail enquiry with BenQ... whilst nothing definite in terms of dates or upgrades, it does bring some hopeful news for the FP241WZ.
The question asked was regarding the 1:1 firmware upgrade. It's interesting to see that they state they don't know "how" it will happen, rather than "when"

At the moment we do not have any information on how the firmware upgrade
will happen, please keep checking the BenQ website.

The FP241WZ will have the firmware in place.

Can you let us know if it has the firmware fix or not. I called OCUK just now and the guy there said he has no idea. Any info would be helpful..

It’s going to be very interesting to see if this rumored firmware update will be in place before Christmas or not.
I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who might want to get this as a nice Christmas present for themselves (myself included).
I've no doubt that they will sell regardless but the firmware update could be the icing on the cake which will persuade potential customers to pay the extra over the Dell 2407 for example.
 
Noticed that the monitor is now back in stock and have checked and it does not have the 1:1 pixel mapping update. Having spoken to the BenQ holland head office (european head office) they say the 1:1 pixel mapping is only on trials at the moment in their factory so they have no idea when it is to be released.

Been waiting to buy this monitor for christmas however waiting for this update has delayed me so need a few questions answered please guys.

Does the 1:1 pixel mapping only come into effect if i plug an external device into the monitor such as xbox 360, dvd players etc.

I'm only planning to be using it for pc use, no external devices so will the picture be fine if only for pc use, e.g. fill screen perfectly if just for desktop use and latest games ?

Me not buying it considering that I will be paying about 750£ for this screen, which cant do 1:1 mapping. Until this gets fixed no Benq FP241W series for me :(

I am trying to find out.

BenQ as a manufacturer in the UK are hard work, cannot get confirmation on the bezel colour or the 1:1 thing.

Assume the worse and that they are euro spec and hence black/silver colouring and don't feature 1:1
 
Personally I don't care about silver/black rather bout the fixes, which otherwise makes the screen nothing special. Other online stores are also stocking in black. search on the net if you cant get it from ocuk.

Because a lot of etailers don't hold the stock themselves. It can be held at a logistics company and dispatched directly from there. No idea if OcUK operate this way but it makes sense as you don't have to buy more warehouse space as you expand.

This is true!
However got our stock here and booked in now, they are black/silver, not all black on the two boxes I have checked.

Anybody found any decent images on the web of the black/silver ones?
 
these will NOT have the 1:1 pixel mapping fix, as it's only in trials so far. Once stock starts being shipped with it, you'll see reports on the net about it (and I'll post it on here when i hear too :))
