You're looking at £150+ for one or two thousand points in 3D Mark '06 and some DirectX 10 features you can only use in a couple of games, and even then only if you buy Vista. QUOTE]

There will be a 9.0L release I gather of Direct X which will provide support for these Direct 10 features in Win Xp.

Percy - No my Lord, but they say it is very blue
Blackadder - So Percy what you are telling me is that something that you have never seen is slightly bluer than something else that you have never seen....

DirectX 9.0L is the extension to allow DirectX 9 emulation in Vista, actually. The L stands for "Longhorn."

You might want to do some reading, this very issue was a huge spamfest on this forum only last week or the week before. There is no support for DirectX 10 in Windows XP and there will not be any DirectX 10 support in Windows XP through any sort of patch or update because they would practically have to rebuild the OS (e.g. Vista.)

Nah the regulars are just moaning about nvidia again putting a negative spin on everything as they always do :)
Oh please, even easyrider said he wouldn't touch the 8800GTX if it weren't for his eVGA step up allowing him to part-exchange his 7950GX2 because it costs far too much for the improvement you get over the GX2 itself.

Are you going to call easyrider of all people an "ATI fanboy" or "FUD spreader"??

Jesus, use the search function. Like I said there was a spamfest on this just a week or two ago, even The Inq. came out an apologised for spreading the "DX10 on XP through DX9L" rumour themselves and said that they discovered the "L" to stand for "Longhorn."

No I don't disagree with anything, I just don't agree.

Your mentallity of "you're either black\white" is one of someone's mind muddied by ATI\Nvidia nagative banter day in day out.

I'm just saying, stop complaining about it in the way a politician would talk about another parties policies. Putting a negative spin, slighty exaggerating facts and generally just being gloomy about anything that isn't in their list of wants, or well come on man.

Cheers up, new cards being released :)

You will be able to check the new products out and buy them on November 8th. Until then I cannot confirm specification or pricing due to NDA but the rumoured specifications are not far out;)

Hi there

I have pricing and it aint nice.

GTS is around current GX2 pricing from OcUK.
GTX is a lot more expensive then current GX2 pricing, about £150 more.

Grand job!. :D

You're on some serious drugs, go back and see me praising the 8800GTX as being a great card but the price being too high (except with step-up.) I've practically agreed with everything easyrider himself has said lately about this card and he's bloody buying one.

If I was in the market to spend a lot of money on graphics, I too would be interested in the 8800GTX. As I don't have an eVGA 7950GX2 like easyrider though, I feel my money would be better spent on a 7950GX2 (£350 as opposed to £450/£500) as I am not interested in DirectX 10 until more titles come out that take advantage of it.

The only reason I don't have a 7950GX2 in the first place is because I've never bought a card for around £200 that didn't blow me away, so that's the budget I usually try to aim for. Hence me having an X1900XT. My plan for my next upgrade is to see how the refreshes of G80 and R600 turn out, and wait for them to drop to around £200-£250 as I don't like buying new tech right away.

You're seeing bias where there is none, you're just looking for a fight. If anyone's mind is muddled by the whole "green vs. red" thing right now, it appears to be you.

Untill i see the games runing like that with a playable framerate i won't belive it :D.

Seen far to many candy shots and candy demos not buying it at all.....

3D mark is just one benchmark though, and runs at 1280 x 1024 default.
I'll wait and see how they perform at 1920 x 1200, and even then I'll probably still wait for the price to drop.

There are no games being released the my X1900XT-X can't cope with (just) and until I need one, it's going to be pointless in buying one. But getting back to my original point, which is no one yet knows if they start to pull away at higher resolutions.

The card is fantastic, no doubt! It's just too expensive when you have the 7950GX2 for only £350 or so.

But it dosen't support DX10 which will be a factor early next year whether people want it to be or not. Paying extra for a card with a much longer lifespan than a GX2, that dosen't have some of the quirks of the GX2 and performance that should increase over time dosen't seem to bad on paper. It should cost more. It'll also cost less than a GTXSLI or CF setup for about the same performance.

I'm not saying it not inflated though. I just hate the way the etailers and suppliers try to justify the inflated prices before release.

Its almost like stocks are limited on release on purpose to rip off the rabid enthusiasts. ;)

sure it is - how can people compare their overpriced cards otherwise? :o

Hey it will be a cheapish upgrade for me and allow me sli perfomance without messing about with disabling sli in the driver so I can use my 3 monitors. :D

What a laugh this thread has been. Im almost rolling off my seat in hysterics!!!

£500.00 for a video card is absolutely insane.. my Wife even thinks £150 for a video card is insane ....

I think its time for a reality check here for everyone..... either that or you have more money than Bill Gates himself for these things.
