Big ol' Burger Comparison Thread

Without wanting to fall foul of the swear filter, last night I ate at B*****d Burger in Uppsala, Sweden. I had a New York burger and very, very tasty it was too. Fries were good too, not too heavy on teh salt which makes a nice change. I'd go back next time I'm in town.

7 Bone in Southampton is my favourite Burger Joint. The Rockstone is just down the road and is also very good. I tried 5 Guys in the new West Quay Watermark area and it was decent enough but expensive compared to 7 Bone. Also, 7 Bone milkshakes are without compare.

I have been to the one in Hoxton square a couple of time but not the Soho one so unsure if its the same. Had the devastator burger which was pretty good. :) Have also had ribs and greens before which were also good.
Well we had lunch there today. I went for the Punisher burger which was a patty along with slow cooked pork butt: decent but nothing special. Fries weren't great - really dry. A couple of people had the Devastator burger although they got bored after the 2nd patty. The table next to us appeared to have some of the hot wings, and they were suffereing slightly :).
Service was sloppy with 1 of our group not getting their burger until half the group had already finished, and a couple of portions of fries didn't arrive until the very end.

Made a trip to Hereford for work and had lunch in Beefy Boys. It was really great, very tasty burger (American Boy) and an awesome milkshake. Shame I'm not over that way very often as I really enjoyed it.

Ah shame, mebbe gone downhill. Devastator burger was really nice when I had it. :)

Got takeout from GBK last night had the bacon cheeseburger with skin on fries.

Not bad, nothing amazing. Saying that I was very happy my mate didn't want her baconaise, could happily just sit and eat that with a spoon!

To be honest, I'm not surprised these chains have flooded the market so quickly and they are relatively pricey for what you get. Is it a sign people are getting bored of them?

People are definitely not bored of burgers. That market is holding strong. It's the fact Handmade Burger Co don't hold essentially a third of the gourmet market anymore like they previously did. There are so, so many independent burger joints popping up everywhere serving excellent burgers and fries with lots of twists and quirks and price wise are competing with or bettering Handmade Burger Co. The competition is incredible. I think the areas handmade burger have lacked in is probably marketing (no hype or decent adverts or social media campaigns), no deals (they stopped the buy one burger get the other for. Pound years ago and didn't replace the deal with anything else) and price, in the absence of any deals it's a lot less compelling a prospect to choose Handmade when you could go to one of many fantastic independent burgers places and then there's also the chain completion; GBK, Byron. They've also failed to refurb, they look pretty dated and each time I've been (15+ times) the glasses are dirty/misty. Atmosphere bit cold. (I've not been to all of them so there could be some very nice ones). However the burgers were always nice.

Not enough pics...

Lunch today at GBK. Had the Big Mouth special burger again. Contains 6oz beef patty, Big Mouth beer cheese, bacon monster crunch, smoked chilli mayo, beef ketchup, salad, brioche bun.

Great burger. Love that cheese and bacon crunch :D

If you're in Manchester any time be sure to check out Almost Famous. Frazzles on a burger ftw :)

Can confirm some 'interesting' combinations in there :) not overly keen eating out of a basket but what can you do... :p

Tried my first 7 bone while I was in Camberly at the weekend. Had a 6Oz ronald's revenge with dirty fries. Pretty tasty burgers, too many fries, but tasty too.
I guess in response to the fazzles in a burger (which sounds like a great idea TBH), they were offering crushed wotsits in their Trump burger.

I went to Honest Burger in Kings Cross yesterday and had their Honest burger. Very nice! The fries were amazing, so tasty. The burger was very good but I prefer a Five Guys burger.

A Five Guys burger with Honest burger fries would be about perfect.

Went to Honest Burger in Cambridge today (after the 15 minute queue to get in) loved the fries had a Cambridge burger wasnt to bad probably the best burger I have had in Cambridge but did not leave me thinking wow this is amazing.

Also pop up the road and get an ice cream from Jacks Gelato superb

Went to GBK at Bluewater yesterday, left rather disappointed.

I asked for well done (I know, a crime to some of you!) but it just arrived completely dry and tasteless. The skinny fries were pretty tasty though, although a right pain to eat :D

It's not that difficult to get a non-pink burger that isn't dry, maybe they just go to the extreme end.
