It might be alright, it might not. Unfortunately you'll never know until you need it.

Have you received it yet? I had a couple of cheap jackets when I first started and just comparing the feel between them and my now more expensive kit you can feel the massive difference in quality to the point I wouldn't wear my old kit unless it really was my only option.

Got this in post today :D :p

Yeah very true! the Jacket is only thing I've gone cheap on.... As you said, until you try it out you'll never know. Doubt i'l be going super fast the first few months of riding! Soon as I have a bit more cash i'l upgrade it first... Before adding to the bike!

Slowly started assembling a few bits of gear together in preparation for the first mini tour of the year this coming weekend - Wales. Getting increasingly nervous about the weather forecast, so we've already abandoned the idea of camping and will just book somewhere approximately halfway. Should hopefully arrive after Ireland have crushed Wales and England have conquered Scotland in the 6 Nations :)

Sensible way to do it, all my safety kit is now easily worth as much if not more than my actual bike and has already saved me from a couple of beatings from the tarmac.

Bikes gone in for a full service, including throttle bodies balanced and mot. Should get it back some time this week.

I had fun the other week, roads was dry, but was cold, set off at the lights (tyres were very warm by this point) used the QS, and was spinning in 2nd gear. I laughed :D

Really looking forward to this summer, fresh start in my life with my new job, getting the bike spotless and full serviced. Great to be a live!

Does anyone else find some drivers just hate having bikes behind them?

I was pootling through town on my way home today no speeding or driving like a knob but then the car in front suddenly pulled right into the kerb I thought he might have been going left on the mini roundabout so sat back but after about ten meters of crawling along he came to a complete stop and waved me past.

As soon as I was past he pulled out and followed me.

It's not the first time it's happened either.

No it wasn't a copper looking to pull me for something :p

Some drivers panic when they see a bike behind them and overdo an attempt to let you past, coming to a complete stop is a bit OTT though!!

I've had them almost drive onto the grass verge, or drive in the gutter on a blind bend... Most don't use common sense, like the fact that WE know when to overtake safely.

Also, when they're driving in the middle of a few cars following something slow (like a bus) they follow the car in front far to close meaning there's not a decent gap to pull into when we overtake. Sometimes you can't dispatch 3 or 4 cars at once and have to pick them off one by one, but when Doris is 10ft behind Bob who's 10ft behind the bus going 40mph it's a little tricky....:p

In May, for my 20th Birthday I'm going to treat myself to a trackday, not on the good ol poor SV. I'll rent a trackbike, if I bin it most want 500 quid or enough to cover the cost of repair. I'm prepared for that bit... What bike would you recommend from the 600's? I was thinking R6 or CBR.

Edit
Most of my mates said to book in advance, as last minute trackdays are hard to come by... true?

Haha, that's what I look like when I'm leant over like that squeezing every little bit of that little V-Twin. :p

Edit
Bed time, tomorrow fixing up the SV, hopefully I'll finish before a group rideout. :D

I would agree. You might bet lucky and a track near you at a reasonable price with some nice weather expected is still available for the next day, but you might go through the whole summer and never get to do one.

So another Honda of similar vintage has also gone on the 'possible' list. A pre-VTEC (1998-2001) VFR800. £2k for a decent one, higher miles at 40k seems the average but the'll go to the moon and back. Cheaper to insure, oh and they sound like this...:cool::D

Not to scare you off but.... my friend has the 800 anniversary edition and is now in the process of building a bike from the frame up as he is tired of having to fix things on his VFR

It's amazing what a difference a little adjustment and a splash of lube can make. Bike felt lovely this morning.
