Not to scare you off but.... my friend has the 800 anniversary edition and is now in the process of building a bike from the frame up as he is tired of having to fix things on his VFR
What sort of issues has he had? I know there's a few 'known' faults but other than that they're meant to be very reliable.

Cam position sensor went, which meant the bike refused to start. The LCD dash has had various gremlins which means taking the bike apart to get to and the replacements arnt cheap from what I understand. Exhaust blowing and having to replace it which took him a while. He's a truck mechanic by trade so did it all himself. Those are the bits I'm aware of, I'm sure there is more

All known issues I think, apart from the cam position sensor. The PCB fails on the dash, and the mild steel downpipes rot so need replacing with a stainless set. Hopefully he just had a bad one, they're meant to be dead reliable and can do intergalactic miles.

Ever thought about the yam fazer 600? You see a lot of them with moon miles, must show they are reliable?

Fz6 too!

Sat here waiting for a phone call back from the bike shop. Be done by Friday but I'm really impatient!!!

I've also found out that the rear brake caliper on the ST, you have to take the rear wheel off! I've never taken a rear wheel off :( was thinking about giving the calipers a bit of a clean.

Normally you can just unscrew the caliper separately?

With the Hornet, it looks like you have to take the wheel off to do the rear caliper but you can unscrew the caliper itself from the bracket.

Edit: do you mean ST as in the Triumph Sprint ST? The one with the single sided swingarm?

You can remove the pads without removing the wheel so you may be able to clean the piston with the calliper still attached but you won't be able to clean and grease the sliders.

You will need a punch to remove the pad retaining pin.

None of the 'commuter' 600's appeal to me, like the cbr600f, sv650, xj6 diversion etc. I'd like something I won't want to commit suicide on :p

St as in street triple :D

Yeah you have to remove the wheel.

Yeah your right scooby about the pin, just punch it through and you can replace pads and maybe clean piston too while your there

A fazer 600 will probably be a lot more comfier than a vfr.

Plus, vfr or cbr900 you was looking at will be quicker than the bikes you are just listed.

Sounds to me really your just a honda fan boy :p

I don't understand what you mean by that comment.
I mean a bike that won't bore me to death :p I know the vfr and CBR aren't the most exciting but they're a little interesting at least.

See below :D
That would certainly explain the Aprillia that I'm pretty sure he'd marry if he could...:D

Love my Tuono, I spent a while at the weekend when fitting the tank grips just staring at it :D

Who had a Gladius on here? I remember someone switched to Renthals shortly after I did? There was someone on here, but I can't remember at the top of my head... :(

I don't want to mess the throttle up though or the fuel mixture.

My last street triple ran rough when fitting new exhausts and taking the baffles out, i could get a power commander fitted but that's £400 for that + remap.
