BMW and M Power Owners

It costs £1107 (or £104 per month) with £100 excess and emergency cover.

It costs £855 (or £81 per month) with £250 excess and emergency cover.

So a very significant difference that would imply that people do indeed put in claims and the much higher cost of the £100 excess needs to be paid for by the much higher premium.

Since these cards are presumably reliable and I do not do monster mileages and I may not need to claim anyway (touching wood), I may go for the £250 excess option for the first year. I can review that after a year as the car gets older.

If I paid the £250 excess option in one payment it then amortises at £71 per month.

My F10 with £250 excess, Comprehensive with Emergency was £677 about 2 months ago, just for reference.

Dude no way :(
:( I know

******** :(

Tbh, it looks like your F11 stood up quite well though! Is there and damage to the exhaust or boot floor?
Yeh to be fair it was quite a wack (fast lane of the M6) and the damage seems minimal. Felt like it was a few cars behind me (distance wise) and didnt feel like it pushed me forward at all.

The exhaust have been touched but not sure if there's any proper damage there, taking it to BMW tomorrow for an estimate so will find out if they and the floor are borked.

And it didn't ask you for a PIN or anything?

That's really unusual.

If the car is under cover it either won't quote or will request your login name and PIN if its near renewal.

If it proceeds straight to the quote it's acting like the car doesn't currently have a warranty.

Phone them.
Nope. Just entered my registration and mileage. It must know on the back-end systems that it is coming to the end of its NC warranty.

It does know, normally, and refuses to quote on that basis unless you have the offer PIN. If it quotes straight up at £1107 then for whatever reason its not picking up your existing policy.

Thanks Basher. I may quote that if you don't mind? If you have more details please PM me.

You don't need to quote his price - the prices are all fixed, there is no negotiation, they know how much it is and should quote you the renewal price once they know its a renewal?

Just call them up and you could have had this answered in like 4 minutes :p

Thankyou Fox.
I did call them as you suggested. The tool I linked to is incorrect and they had "no idea" why it was quoting the incorrect price. With £250 excess, comprehensive and with emergency cover I have just paid £677 just as Basher did, which is much more in keeping with what I expected, albeit still expensive. For info, £100 excess was a premium of £865 and for £0 excess it is £1060 - all on a 535D F11 MSport Auto @ 34500 miles and loaded with options. So I am relatively happy with £677 - a good risk balance I think. The cost refunded on a pro-rata basis if I trade the 535 in.

The way I see it, and we all see things differently I know, for a major mechanical issue £250 is a relatively small cost to contribute, one that I can afford. I suppose the £100 excess assists with smaller things going wrong. However, not sure "small" and BMW costs are often used in the same sentence.....

In reply to recent company car posts, I got out of that game three years ago now and run my own with a contribution from my own pocket so I can drive something nice. Company car drivers are sitting ducks for the government to rape and pillage. Wonder what Hammond has in store today? It is rarely [actually never] good news for company car drivers......

Desperately failing at finding a wing mirror glass for the F10 M5 as someone decided to pass rather close to me on the motorway last night. I've got the 3pin plug version and can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

In other news,

46k oil service (spark plugs, filters, etc), front and read pads.....:eek::rolleyes:

Not a cheap car to run :p

  • Existing diesel supplement in company car tax to rise by 1%

Ive been on car allowances with a car option for years and years. It hasnt been worth it in all the time that i have been eligible, assuming your employer offer at least a half way reasonable cash allowance. My colleagues with direct company cars have things like 4cyl diesel 3-series, Volvos, things like that. I instead pocket a fair bit of change overall driving an E350 AMG-Sport Cabriolet currently (and could have plenty of other similar ilk cars at roughly the same cost). Its a good few years old but it looks almost as new and is a really half decent drive. Some of my colleagues have in the past been known to comment that they couldn't justify a car like that for business use, it makes no sense to me.

Indeed. I do concede that if people do monster mileages or the cash allowance from their company is rubbish then company car is probably the best way to go for them. However, in my case I get £600 per month (which is taxed at 40%), 45P cash per mile in running expenses and my tax code back to 11500 and not some monster negative number. So I budget myself £700 cash per month for my car(s). My main car os the 535D and I also have a cheaper but still super Z4 2.5 E85.

Mine will stay until it's at least 5 by which time the G30 LCI will be out. I have little interest in anything that isn't a 5 series, made the mistake of trying something else once before

Yep, I am well aware. I "dropped" to a 335 and, without sounding arrogant, it felt so much more plasticky than the five.
You running the extended warranty Fox?
