BMW and M Power Owners

Has anyone else noticed how many BMW's seem to have those awful M colour clip on Ebay grille addons fitted? They look crap enough on an M car or an M Sport model but they are popping up on regular SE's too. How can anyone think it looks good?!

They’ve started popping up on Skodas too, in the vRS colours.

Appreciate everyone’s comments regarding grilles etc I’ve always found silver plastic to look cheap on cars never liked it and as for the mirrors I’m not a fan of the grey I would have preferred them to come black or same paint as car and as for carbon lol I’m picking up my weekend and funday driver tomorrow which is the brand new carbon edition rs5 which looks stunning I’ll put pics up of both cars together at the weekend
An M2 as a daily and RS5 as a weekend car? Are you sure you haven't got those the wrong way around? :p

This seems like a rare opportunity to get some insight :D

What made you think 'yea, I'll do that'?

I just quite like them. Adds a bit of a colour to what looks a little like a hearse. :)

Made me chuckle on a recent visit to Ukraine there were lots of X5s with the same grilles.

I asked about them on an FB group and I have to say I've never upset so many people in such a short amount of time :D

It's getting a good clean on the weekend so apologies for the dirty car pics.

I've had an intermittent squeal from one of my rear wheels after I had an Indy place replace my rear discs and pads. They had to have three goes at doing it after the first attempt resulted in the handrake being as slack as a *********. Gave up with them in the end as although they supposedly adjusted the handbrake, the squealing persisted. It's been about 3 months since and it kind of stopped doing it now, I imagine whatever was binding has eventually worn down. It is at it's worst it was when the car had been running for a while and rolling at very low speed, obviously heat related. I did some googling as you do to research the handbrake adjustment procedure on this car, 3 series, first thing to do was to lift the lever and de-engage the tensioner spring, before working at the drum end. The guy was adamant he didn't need to touch the handbrake lever itself to adjust the drum shoes, cos "he has been on a course". Of course, I won't be using these clowns again for anything, Bush Tyres it was btw.

You've gone for those dreadful M Performance stickers on the skirts too :D

I quite like the colours on the grill but I’ve seen a few that just look gash. In the pics Ed, from what I can see, I like them. Did you replace the grill or are they clip ons?

Oh yes, had to complete the look. :)

I also have an aftermarket roof spoiler but it's such poor quality I won't be fitting it.

I'd like to get the alcantara interior bits. Mine has the gloss back finish which looks lovely but the centre part by the iDrive reflects the sun really badly.

They are replacement grilles. They're not quite as snug a fit as OE but not so bad they rattle about.

Got the 5 series back from the body-shop. It's the second time I have used this company and I have to say that their quality and price have been excellent both times. The clearcoat is now perfect on the front bumper and I also had a skirt resprayed, all for £300 which seems reasonable. It's going into BMW tomorrow for the MOT and for them to check the rear air suspension.

Strangely since the deflation issue it has remained perfectly level all week. When the other side went it was not intermittent but in fairness the car had been untouched on the driveway for 4/5 days so maybe it is a very small pinhole.

OH MY GOD!

Not only have we gone for the coloured grille fins but we have put a M3 style double-finned grille on a non-M car. Jesus wept.

Hey, I'm kidding. It's your car and you do what you like to it :)

im sure lol its a m240i not a m2 plus they have decided not to make the carbon edition anymore so want to keep miles low and in tip top nick, also when flooring the rs im only getting 9-12 mpg

I've never understood the idea behind buying a top-end version of a run-of-the-mill car and then not using it. The whole point of cars like that is that they are performance cars you can use every day.
