I would just flash it back before taking it to BMW for anything lolCongrats, but you must know that a map will invalidate the BMW warranty when it comes to engine/drivetrain?
Which makes absolutely no difference, as it'll be flagged when it's originally mapped and BMW can see that, even if reverted. There's no way around it.I would just flash it back before taking it to BMW for anything lol
Also... the apple car play must be a retrofit box, as the stock GPS doesn't function due to it.
The GPS function is gone. As in the map thinks I'm in London. At all or just when you've set up nav on CarPlay?
Hmm. OK, thanks. Might hold off on the map then. To be honest, the standard power is pretty good.Which makes absolutely no difference, as it'll be flagged when it's originally mapped and BMW can see that, even if reverted. There's no way around it.

Unsure why, but I expect that the GPS module is now connected to a retro fit apple play box.
I'll know for sure when I get the dash apart to fit my own box.
I don't really care about the standard bmw navigation, as android auto navigation will be what I use. (WAZE)
Collected the 440i.
Couple of issues:
1. Passenger side front bumper, clearly had some repair and paint. Poorly repaired too and paint has runs. I'll be getting that sorted. Knocked him down on the price a little to aid that.
2. Android auto was advertised as being on the car. Turns out only apple car play is on it. Can't code it in as its an F series.
He paid for the £500 retro fit box for me to install to get android auto. Collecting it tomorrow from local seller.
Also... the apple car play must be a retrofit box, as the stock GPS doesn't function due to it. So might be something I can sell on, if so, that covers the fix on the bumper.
3. Small scuff on rear bumper. Nothing bad, doesn't warrant me getting it smart repaired.
That's about it.
Managed 39.9mpg on the 3hr drive home. Traffic was a pain, the stop start works well.
I very much like the car, great spec.
I'll keep it as it is untill the 6 months warranty from the dealer is up, then bung the BMW warranty on and a BootMod3 map
Happy days.
They aren’t exactly slow as standard tbh. Money is better spent on tyres, maintenance, and carbon fibre!Hmm. OK, thanks. Might hold off on the map then. To be honest, the standard power is pretty good.
The nav screen has been coded by someone. Bimmer tech won't connect to that module as its "non standard".If it's a 2017 car it should support Apple Carplay without any modifications. Android auto was never officially supported on these cars.
I am not sure why you'd buy a car where the navigation isn't working? Surely you'd want it working first?

So something has been done to it by a previous owner. I'll check the wiring behind it, and if there is no retrofitted box, I'll have the units software reverted to standard.
As I've said, I went into this expecting android auto (as it was listed and sold as having it). Which replaces the aged maps that come with car anyway.
Edit:
Looks like someone has updated it from ID5 to ID6 and coded the apple car play into it.
I've been able to mirror my samsung to the screen, but it's no android auto that's for sure.
No idea how they managed to nuke the stock GPS... as this update is pretty easy to do, and undo. Which I'll do tomorrow. I've ordered the Enet cable and adapter from amazon.
I didn't know you could do that. Does that let you drive it without the actual key too?
Edit
Actually doesn't look like an option for me. Can't find anything about it in the app.
I don't recall see it as an option anywhere and I don't have the wireless charger either. Ah well had I known that could have been an option I probably would have gone for it.In my car it does, there is another NFC reader in the wireless charging tray and you can either use your phone or the provided digital key (credit card shape) in there and the car will start.
Just took my 2011 Z4 35i in for the same, large service and brake fluid plus vehicle check comes to £620.2016 330d m Sport Xdrive Service time again, £670 with brake fluid, gulp.
Need 4 Tyres too, around £7/800? double gulp.
Looks like I'm eating beans a lot next month hehe.
I gotta say, I think you’re crazy to take a 12 year old car to a main dealer for servicing but each to their own. I’ve been taking my 2015 4 series to my local mechanic! Brake fluid change recently, £49 including fluid.Just took my 2011 Z4 35i in for the same, large service and brake fluid plus vehicle check comes to £620.
I gotta say though, the fact that servicing is every 2 years more than makes up for the slight increased cost. Comparatively my Skoda Fabia 1.2tsi costs £255 for a large service (according to skoda website, can't remember how much I paid last) and another £80 for brake fluid, so slightly more than half but servicing is done every year.
Ya but the Z4 35i is a "fUtUrE cLaSsIc"I gotta say, I think you’re crazy to take a 12 year old car to a main dealer for servicing but each to their own. I’ve been taking my 2015 4 series to my local mechanic! Brake fluid change recently, £49 including fluid.
