BMW and M Power Owners

I'll be taking a better look at it later.
Expect photos haha
i honestly think it'll be a write off

£5.6k for this ding...
Just Eat delivery driver did a hit and run on my sisters car whilst parked up. Got him in the end via neighbours camera and contacting Just Eat.

Guess how much that damage will cost to repair.

Good job.

Here's the quote. Doesn't include the loan car.

Is the headlight/wheel/tyre OK ? that will be another 1.5k ish to replace them and that's before you get to possible suspension damage.

I'd be surprised if that isn't written off as the damage to the wing looks like the mounting points for it on the frame will be badly damaged.

My mum got stung with Auxiliis (She didn't call me before she had agreed to a hire car through them and she had it within 24 hours). It's going to court aswell worth noting you aren't liable for the hire car cost aslong as you are willing and can provide the details of why you needed the hire car in court. It normally goes to court for an agreement to reduce the hire car charges. My mum's weren't even that high as it was a basic car think it was £70-90 a day but she had it for almost 3 months due to delayed parts.

What was surprising it was Direct Line that recommended passing the claim over to them as it was a non-fault claim as the car was parked and if she opened a claim with them it would cost her the excess until it was settled. I'd have thought a better process would be to recommend contacting the 3rd parties insurance.

Wheel, tyre, suspension all look ok.
The wing is just about impacting the center of the tyre. If I yank the wing off, I expect it would drive. But I'll leave that to Sytner BMW to assess.
Headlight is a little scratched.. but I could live with that, as long as the clips are intact.

Will wait and see.
If it's written off, so be it.

You won't get a choice in how they repair it, it's to new or not at all.
When I had an 'incident' in my dad's A8, they replaced the entire (matrix) headlight despite it only having minor scratches, and me requesting they keep it as is. That cost a whopping £2600 direct from Audi

The fact my E85 Z4 keeps pouring water with what seems like WD40 type lubricant in it into the cabin on my right hand shoulder when I put the roof back up is likely to be drains blocked isn't it? Had a quick Google around and it seems a potential issue, I know it was on MX5s.

I didn't think I would have the hire car for that long, the third party insurers dragged the whole thing out and I ended up with the hire car for over a month and I also didn't think the third party insurer could accept liability for the accident but still refuse to pay for the hire car!
This happened to me back in 2015. The hire car company offered by the insurance normally charge extortionate rates above standard market rate so the other parties insurance will dispute it as it's not a 'fair' cost.
I ended up taking them to court and they did pay for it eventually, took bloody 5 years for it to be finalised though.

I hope mine doesn't take 5 years! My car was crashed into at the beginning of September last year and the whole thing going on for this long is already too much!

Did you actually have to go to court in the end or was an agreement reached before that?

Current part prices are incredibly high, my parents BMW recently had a new rear bumper (via insurance) and that alone was over £3k in total!

If they replace the wing, bumper, bonnet and door I can see that being well into 5 figures.
I had a front bumper and headlight and grill on an x5 and that was £12500 total.

Yes, common fault. On my E85 Z4, to eliminate the issue I just removed the bungs completely and didn't refit them - many people do this with no issues. Get a long thin implement (an unfolded metal coat hanger works pretty well) and use a torch to look down the holes and poke the hanger down into it to clear any crud. Everytime I wash the car, I check underneath to make sure when I'm rinsing the shampoo off that there is a flow of water from where the roof drain outlets underneath are located, then you can pretty much assume they are clear.

You mention 'WD40 type lubricant'..........do you mean mixed in with the water? Hopefully its not hydraulic oil for the roof motor!

That's my fear about the oily nature of the water. But I'm hoping that it's just that the mechanism has been lubricated, it was in to BMW not long ago as the previous owner had opened the roof going too fast and it was throwing up codes and occasionally didn't work.

It was collected yesterday at 4:45pm.
It will be being assessed at Sytner BMW Coventry this morning I expect.
The chap who collected had a quick look. Might JUST be body panel damage. So will see.
Collection guys just make it up, wait for the proper assessment
