BMW and M Power Owners

Unfortunately, Sytner Coventry have failed to follow through with their own promises.
The Bodyshop manager specifically told me "If its here in the morning, it can be assessed within 4 hours. You'll know the outcome in the afternoon"

Called at lunch, told it arrived first thing. Possibility it may not get done till Monday.

Called again at 4:30. Told "I did say it might be monday, its not been checked yet". The lady wasn't very happy on the phone. Must have had a bad day.

So... The BodyShop manager misled me :( got my hopes up about getting news this week.

Oh well. I'm not much fussed. just a shame I wont know till Monday.

Might be coming back to the fold after selling the X3M this summer.

We had decided to stick with the superior brand and vehicle (Citroen Berlingo of Power!), but an early morning opportunity seemed a little too good to miss.

Will update next weekend :)

Yes, common fault. On my E85 Z4, to eliminate the issue I just removed the bungs completely and didn't refit them - many people do this with no issues. Get a long thin implement (an unfolded metal coat hanger works pretty well) and use a torch to look down the holes and poke the hanger down into it to clear any crud. Everytime I wash the car, I check underneath to make sure when I'm rinsing the shampoo off that there is a flow of water from where the roof drain outlets underneath are located, then you can pretty much assume they are clear.

You mention 'WD40 type lubricant'..........do you mean mixed in with the water? Hopefully its not hydraulic oil for the roof motor!

Worst idea ever....I'm at my parents 200 miles from home but thought I'd make use of having a garage to try and clear the drain holes...

Roof is now stuck half way and won't move.

I think I'm getting the train home tomorrow...

Did cleaning a drainage channel impact the roof - or failure is just an unfortunate coincidence.
( I've used bits of rigid mains flex, never coat hangers, with, if space, a bit of cloth tied securely use the inner cores to act as a pipe cleaner on scuttles )

Repair costs for the 440i are under 10k.
They valued the car for repair purposes @ 17k (Although... not even BMW sell the same spec car for under £22k)
He thinks the insurance will approve the repair.
New Parts:
Wing
Door
Headlight
Front Bumper (with new splitter)
Assorted brackets & Welding for them etc.
They will repair:
Behind the wing has some minor dents, pull and repair
Bonnet is slightly creased up due to wing impacting, they will repair it (which i expect means bang with little hammers and then paint it too...)

Estimate is under £10k, that's as much as i was told.

I'm pleased with the outcome so far. Roll on end of week to get insurance approval.

Didn't get that far, the roof stopped working while I was still waiting for the water to pour out onto carpet scraps and blankets I'd laid out for that purpose.

There's a latch in the boot you can pull which lets you manually pull the roof down, that's what I had to resort to when my roof motor died on my old Z4.

Quote from Z4 Forum - "you pull the red loop and turn it 90 degrees and that allows you to raise the roof by hand"

It'll be the rental car/wait for parts that kills it.

It's a hard top and the roof is in the boot! The boot lid is stuck while pivoting from the bumper side to let the roof drop in.

Ah......hang on..........so its not an E85 Z4 then? I didn't realise it was an E89 or G29 when you first posted. Any luck with the roof and getting it to fold back up?

Ah yeah, my bad E89.... 59 plate anyway.

I got RAC cover when I bought, they've been out and couldn't do anything but are going to recover it to a specialist BMW place local to my parents house.
