BMW and M Power Owners

My mate put Nitrons on his as it removes the arch gap and they’re more comfortable than OEM. He doesn’t track it. It’s quite common on M2’s.
Alternatively could have been M Performance suspension which would have maintained warranty

Out of interest why didn't you look for and buy another one? Spur of the moment type thing while in for a service?

I bought an M4 Competition instead, a bit nicer cabin and spec. I didn't keep it that long though as it's my only car and I was doing 2000 miles a month in it :p

It wasn't, if I recall correctly it was the KW coilover kit, fitted by some random backstreet garage. They did have the invoice for it. Retailed for £3600.

Probably not a bad thing if you're happy with a modified car and want to modify it further, but I wasn't - and it would have caused warranty concerns further down the line.

3 (Current) - purchased 30/09/22, ownership length 1 year 8 months 21 days
2 - purchased 23/03/22, ownership length 6 months 8 days
1 (First) - purchased 28/02/2019, ownership length 3 years 24 days

(from vcheck):

Did you have to pay for the vcheck owner history or is it free?

It's a paid service. £9.99 for the full check which covers everything, £4.99 for the basic check which doesn't verify outstanding finance, vehicle valuation or colour changes. Then the initial check for £1.99 which doesn't cover the same things as the basic check, plus the police stolen and insurance write-off checks.

Without trawling back in the topic, did you negotiate any discount off the M2C that you are thinking of buying?
That might give you an idea how realistic it is to haggle £3K from a £38K AUC car.

It might be possible if they overpriced it deliberately in the first place hoping to catch a toby?

I was tracking an SQ5 recently, main squealer stuck it up on Auto Trader for £49,700, two months later it sold for £45K.
They were chancing it early doors then reality told them there were no tobies at the initial greed level they tried it on at.

I managed to negotiate it from £35,913 to £34,995, so effectively £1k off, on the agreement that the deal is done before the end of the month so the figures are included in June (presumably commission). It was listed for sale on BMW AUC and Autotrader right at the end of May.

It was overpriced before the negotiation and above my budget, now I think it's fair relative to what else is available on the market. A near identical car (but in Long Beach Blue rather than Sunset Orange) sold at Stratstone Leeds in June for £35,111. I queried about a discount and they said an enquiry already asked for it to be reduced down to £34,750 and it was refused because they know the car will sell at list price (which it did - someone reserved without seeing it a few days after).

No other 2019 cars available on AUC for similar money. Increasing the budget to £38k and there are 2x 2020 cars priced at £37.5k, here and here. Newer, but more expensive. The first is also missing 2 options - heated steering and speed limit assist display (neither are a necessity - just nice to haves).

I have seen a couple of 2020 cars come up for £36k, but they were both in Hockenheim Silver rather than my preferred colours. Both now gone.

I originally had a budget of £33k which in hindsight was unrealistic, so I upped that to £35k. I don't want to up it again, would rather pay a little less for a slightly older car.

Bargain

I did buy a set of these for summer use as the ones the car came with were not the mperformance ones (when I bought them I managed to get 33% off, still expensive for what they are, but far cheaper than RRP).

Cross post from show us your motors. Had to bring both cars on holiday due lack of space.

Considering your tight focus of specifications it might be best to either abandon the search or buy the car that is in front of you now?
How would you feel if it sold to another buyer and you missed it. Get it bought...

The new M5

Slower than the old M5 on paper, there won't be a Competition version of this, it's 2.4 tonnes, it has this grille.... Where did things go so wrong at M division :o

I’d forgotten what a lovely cruiser my car was until tonight. On smooth roads it really just wafts along at 70, engine only turning over at 1,900rpm and since getting rid of the RFT’s it’s so much quieter. My only minor criticism is the seats could be a little bit softer, but they’re comfortable enough.

I think I will have to see it in the flesh to judge how it looks but first impressions, I don’t like the bonnet, the grille isn’t too bad and is an improvement on the M3 snout but the car is very angular, would prefer it if they softened it a bit. Surprised they didn’t keep the v8 output the same as the F90 M5 comp

My neighbour's trying to get his hands on an M5 Touring. Honestly, when I saw the weight of the saloon, my heart sank. The touring will be around 2500kg wet, so I mean with family and everything, it'll be as heavy as my Q7. Total madness :(
-edit: Q7 hybrid is "only" 2500kg so it'll weigh the same
