It isn't even a deterrent - best to do what we used to do in the old Clifford days and just stick the "GHOST" sticker in the windowI would not be fitting a Ghost to a brand new car. It ties directly into the electrical system, way too risky.
If you are in an area with a high theft risk, I would maybe reconsider... or just make sure your insurance is good.
How isn't it a deterrent? It isn't even a deterrent - best to do what we used to do in the old Clifford days and just stick the "GHOST" sticker in the window
Wheel lock is the only "foolproof" device that also deters IMHO.
£590! are they selling you a barrel of it?!Anyone know how much it would cost to drain and fill coolant for an F30 by an indy? Been quoted by Park Royal that it will cost £590 as I apparently have pink coolant in there.
I've already smashed the window at this point haven't I? Also doesn't stop the car being towed? Not sure, just seems an expensive way to solve a problem a "Ghost" sticker may solve. In fact I think I am going to buy a Ghost stickerHow isn't it a deterrent?
Car doesn't work without the code haha.
Well exactly my reason for the question. Doesn't seem reasonable at all so would like to tell them to forget it and I'll take it to an Indy. But need to know if £590 is even normal as I've never had coolant changed before.£590! are they selling you a barrel of it?!
isn't having a ghost sticker some sort of big schlong advert for "come at me brah i dare you to try and steal this car!" lolNot sure, just seems an expensive way to solve a problem a "Ghost" sticker may solve
Then they break in and get the code from you by other means?Car doesn't work without the code haha.

The type of car thefe that just uses signal boosters isn't the type to break in and torture you for a code. Then they break in and get the code from you by other means?

I'm glad you know this for certain. The type of car thefe that just uses signal boosters isn't the type to break in and torture you for a code.
Actually had a high pressure fuel pump go bad so that's being changed, but then they noticed the non-BMW coolant. They recommend replacing the current pink coolant and was told £590. I don't mind changing it out for BMW branded but not for £590.Why are you having the coolant changed?
I'd suggest the actual cost of the fluid would be around £70 at retail prices (I think it's 7.5 litres), and it should be very little labour (in theory it's just undo a bottom hose and let the fluid drain, then reconnect and refill, and bleed by opening a bleed screw).Well exactly my reason for the question. How do you know it isn't original coolant?Actually had a high pressure fuel pump go bad so that's being changed, but then they noticed the non-BMW coolant. I asked how much it would be to replace the current pink coolant and was told £590. I don't mind changing it out for BMW branded but not for £590.
If different colours have been used from factory then that is a good question. In the wording of the report they simply say it's got the wrong one because it's pink. How do you know it isn't original coolant?
The current BMW Coolant (G48?) is blue, however there are reports all over the internet of different colours being used from the factory.
Do have to get bleeding right and let it warm up and re-check a couple of times , so some responsibility.and it should be very little labour (in theory it's just undo a bottom hose and let the fluid drain, then reconnect and refill, and bleed by opening a bleed screw).
For perspective my local Mini Specialist charges £85 for a coolant change (although it's only ~5.2 litres on an R56 mini)
have you had erratic behavior from a 128/256 big flash drive not being read. The on-board storage for music on my F06 is around 20GB. Has anyone ever replaced the HDD with something bigger? e.g. an SSD. This would leave the two USB slots available for other duties.
