BMW and M Power Owners

The on-board storage for music on my F06 is around 20GB. Has anyone ever replaced the HDD with something bigger? e.g. an SSD. This would leave the two USB slots available for other duties.

I would be surprised if this was worth the bother - surely nobody uses this feature anymore anyway?

If you've got two USB slots then you likely have a very old version of iDrive (The second port in the glovebox was removed in about 2012 and was only used for map updates anyway), not sure what else you'll be able to do with them if you don't use them for music?

I ordered a sat nav update for my 2015 428i directly from BMW Connected drive after they sent me a 15% discount code. It was shown as a USB update, but another page said it would be delivered over the air. If it was USB I’d have expected it to arrive in the post but I ordered probably close to a month ago. If it was OTA how can I check it was received? There’s been no message or notification advising it’s been updated and I can’t even see a version number or date anywhere on the idrive?

Your car won't support over the air updates. Instead, you download the map update from BMW using the BMW Download Manager, which you can find on the Connected Drive portal. You then need to save it yourself to transfer it into the car. They won't send you one in the post.

I have iDrive 5, an NBT unit. I have a USB full of music using the arm rest slot so it would be nice to be able to have two phones charging.

Do have to get bleeding right and let it warm up and re-check a couple of times , so some responsibility.
.... had an expensive lesson where inadequate bleeding may have contributed to head-gasket, after I changed radiator.

have you had erratic behavior from a 128/256 big flash drive not being read.
I’ve found it easy to exceed the total number of tracks that the unit will catalogue on one USB drive with a 256GB drive. This manifests as missing artists / tracks being available. I don’t know what this max number is though.

damaged the door on my F13 640d

will prob get a 2nd hand door and get it sprayed

anyone know if Coupe and convertible doors are the same ?

also any change to the door with LCI facelift?

Had a look through the BMW connected drive pages and still don't see a download link?!

OK found it. What a palaver. Need to download the BMW app for windows first. And I don't have a big enough USB stick as it's 33GB in size.

Consider it an investment as you'll probably want to update the nav again in the future

So getting a tow bar on the new i5, anyone know what type of socket I’d need for the lights etc if I bought a rear mounted bike carrier?

Can’t seem to find a genuine BMW part to find the information off.

I did mine on my driveway, can't remember whether the engine was off or not. It's a map update, plug the USB stick in, wait, it's not complicated. :D:confused:
