BMW and M Power Owners

They're still one of the best looking cars on the road, along with any 2 series with the M-Sport bodykit.

I actually saw an M235i not too long ago, but was in poverty white. :(

the iDrive is the new version in my car, so has the updated controller, which I prefer. It has the bigger display, but other than being bigger it adds nothing to the idrive experience

Yours has Pro nav, right? In that case the screen being bigger is just that - a bigger screen, there isn't any functionality difference between Pro Nav across the range.

The Business Nav with the tiny screen is another story. I've got a 14 plate 520d M Sport Touring at the moment with Business Nav - it's noticeably inferior to Pro.

Yes its Pro Nav, I was just pointing out that other that the size of screen the systems the same, mine having the new version of the controller and touch entry thou.

You preferred the XF dash? How was the rest of the interior in comparison? I must admit even the interior of the XJ felt off to me, it's nice and all but just missing something.

The general dash on the 640d was better than the XF, I was referring to the way it was covered in leather, where the Jags felt and looked a higher quality product. For me the XJ dash is better than them both although obviously the sat nav system on the BMW is leaps ahead of the Jags system.

Quick question about log books...

I picked up my 2nd hand BMW about 6 weeks ago and was told the log book would be sent at a later date, once the registration had gone through. I've now had the V5 for two or three weeks and have yet to see anything that looks like a log book.

I'm presuming that such a thing does exist; a service record type document
My last communication with the dealer (BMW dealer) resulted in him saying that there was a problem with the DVLA and it was out of his hands etc.

Does anyone know how this is supposed to work so I can get my ducks lined up for the inevitable call? Ta.

The Log book is the V5. The Service record is just that the service history and the dealer should provide that.

Ah, right, that tidies that one up, thanks. I've only ever heard the service history called a log book.

'Logbook' is a common name for the V5, not the service history.

Hopefully asking here first has saved you from an embarrasing call to the dealer :D

Turns out one of the cats was completely blocked on the X5, which was causing the miss fires and the lack of power from 4K.

Took her for a quick spin on the M4 earlier after letting her warm up. She now reaches 7K in no time at all and is pulling like crazy.

Just goes to prove that blocked cat will cause an engine to miss. Not suggesting that missing didn't cause the cat to block but it does work both ways in the end.

Why would you consider it embarrassing

Because you'd have been calling up demanding something you actually had in your hand - a logbook!

The only thing that comes through at a later date is the V5/Logbook/Vehicle Registration Document/Whatever else people call it. Everything else you get at the time of purchase.

Just had new shocks and springs on the front after a shock died and I thought it best to replace the whole lot.

The front is now about 2" higher than it was, I can get three fingers in the arch gap. They said that it would settle down over the course of a week, is this likely or have they used the wrong springs? (I didn't really ask which ones they were going to use, wish I had now :/ )

Oh yeah, the car is a 2000 328i saloon.

It'll settle a bit, you're unlikely to see a massive difference compared to how it is now though.

It's possible they've fitted the normal ride height springs and you have the lower (/had) springs as fitted to sports but they *should* know the difference. It's also possible your old springs were just so old and saggy they sat significantly lower than from new.
