BMW and M Power Owners

They weren't the sport springs from purchase according to that BMW vin search thing but it's always looked pretty low. Hmmm, I'll see how it goes in the week and figure out what to do then. Ta.

A friend let me take his E90 m3 out for a few hours yesterday and after nearly ****ing myself at first, I started to love how it drives.
Now I'm looking to borrow ~5k to add to my 15k budget to try and get 1 but have a bit of uncertainty, I'm 28 with 2 years no claims (passed 2 yrs ago) insurance is coming in at £1600 which I can live with.

At my budget I think I'll struggle to get a nice example under 60k milage so warranty could be quite expensive, How big a 'pot' would be considered ok to run a car like this? Would 3k/yr inc consumables & warranty on a 60k+ example be unrealistic? I do about 10k per year.

under 60k might be an doable with something like this I might go and have a look at it, Can anyone recommended any good classifieds forums?

Thanks

170bhp from a N/A 2.0 is hardly poor
Looks a nice example but I have no idea what they're worth.

For your budget, I'd spend a bit less, keep some reserve for repairs and get a nice late-model E46 330.

I suppose your right, I'm just used to thinking about the VAG turbo petrol lines, which even for their size seems a lot for not a lot

What I really want is the hard top convertible, but that's not going to happen anytime soon :(

Well yes, adding a turbo and/or supercharger tends to boost bhp considerably :p

Get a 330ci convertible? Soft top but looks lovely.

Don't tempt me!
I am coming from an 02 Golf GTi so do want something newer at the same time. Usually I hate people that shop for a car based on it's age/reg plate, but like £5k for something thats only a year or two newer seems off in my eyes.

I really like the very simple modifications this guy has made - the only change from OEM there is a lip spoiler and painting of the lower part of the existing bumper in matte black.

Could I achieve that with Plastidip? or is that a gloss painted finish do you reckon?

That looks like flat black to me. What does the rear of your car look like at the moment?

Painting stuff in plastidip etc is not a good idea. It starts peeling after a while and doesn't look great to begin with. Its fine for grilles and things that aren't as prominent - but spraying the rear bumper with plastidip? I wouldn't be doing it.

I suppose just buying an M-Sport bumper is out of the question?

Is that bit he has painted removable from the rest of the bumper? If you wanted it done, i think you'd have to sand it back, re prime and then repaint with some sort of flat black colour.

One thing that i've always founds is that flat black looks more matt black, matt black looks more gloss and gloss black is verrrry shiny.

Not at all - just weighing up options and frankly that looks really good to me. The only trouble with the M Sport rear is that you need to complete it with an M Sport front and thats a complex task as it requires quite a lot of replacement parts and a fitting kit (The fitting kit and extra bits and bobs are about £700).

I found this on the web and it's quite inspiring - well, most of it (not keen on the roof spoiler or how lowered it is).

Bit different to the usual M Sport route - same colour as mine (Though mine has high gloss not chrome trim).

Really quite like that F10 other than the wheels...

Fox - Plastidipping from a rattle can will leave a finish with a fair bit of orange peel, but generally be fine when viewed from a distance. Is the section detachable? If so then perhaps a wrap?

Had a quick drive of an E82 125i yesterday evening and have to say I really liked it. Good feedback, felt planted and small, didn't feel any slower than my 330 (didn't get to properly boot it though) and the standard 6 speed auto was quite agreeable. Can these be flashed with the alpina software like the E92 335i? Has made me quite fancy a manual 135i, but they're quite simply way too expensive for a 1 series.
