BMW and M Power Owners

Quick question, is tram lining normal in e46's? It's very noticeable on mine, especially at motorway speeds. I've checked tyre's/pressures etc and adjusted accordingly. It still does it, can alignment be a cause of this? Or suspension components?

Mine was quite bad on the motorway. I replaced the control arms and bushes, tie rods, drop links, arb bushes and the upper and lower steering joint. Much much better now, feels nice and tight.

Now just need to track down what's causing the vibration above 65...

Also they are very sensitive to tyres.

There's something sliding round in the back of mine and I can't find it! Not from the doors. Nor is it under the rear seat. It's driving me crazy!

In the e46 it's usually either control arms or tyres. Same tyre on all wheels? If all's well then get the alignment checked again.

Actually judging by how far the thing is slammed on coilovers in his photo in Show Us Your Motors could that be a cause?

Probably more likely to be the dodgy number plate and aerial.

Just throwing it out there.

Actually, being constructive, mine tramlines too. All four tyres are the same but I've never had the alignment checked so that's next on my list.

I get tramlining on mine, it is not too bad. It has Eagle F1s all round and Meyle HD control arms and bushes on which are under a year old. Haven't done the tracking because it seems fine but a Hunter alignment is on the cards for the next few months though.
